Subject: Son Of Frankenstein: edited DVD versions?

I'm sure the poor quality of the DVD pressings of the Universal "Legacy" monster collections have affected many posters here. I have none the less purchased most of them except the "Frankenstein" collection (which i've seen through my brother in law anyway) and have had to return them numerous times in order to finally get a non-defective set.
Now I see that Universal has put back into print some of theose fun double features that predated the Legacy collections and i'm thinking of buying the 2 discs that have the only 4 "Frankenstein" movies that I am interested in. One disc has "Son Of" and "Ghost Of" and the other has "Meets The Wolfman" and "House Of Frankenstein". Although i'll miss the extras on the Legacy collection, I have no desire to see the original "Frankenstein" or "Bride" anymore (i've seen these all dozens of times in my 48 years on this planet).
Anyway I read that there was a slight edit in the original issue of "Son Of Frankenstein" in the double feature version-whay I need to know is if this has been corrected in the new re-issue of the double features or indeed if it was even corrected in the "Legacy" collection. The edit is described below:
In the part when Basil Rathbone learns from his young son that he was visited by a "giant," the good doctor runs to his laboratory looking for evidence of the monster or Ygor. He goes to the tomb where his father and grandfather are buried during his search and finds nothing. The slight cut occurs when Rathbone climbs up a ladder from the tomb back into the lab. There's not much missing, we just don't see him crawlng through the floor. In the video (VHS) version, we do see Rathbone climbing onto the floor.

What kind of TV set are you running, Gary? I have all the Legacy sets (sans Creature From the Black Lagoon) and they all look good. You're going to see a little film grain in just about every B&W film. As for their packaging, it could be better, yes. I had to take some titles back to Wal-Mart when they had them in stock a few years ago. The plastic tray that holds disc 2 was usually the problem. The DVD was affixed too tightly and getting it off was a killjoy. In one case, one had some bad scratches as a result when I was opening some at customer service. One set had a broken release tab. It was literally impossible to get the DVD out. They were all sent back to Universal as defective. These were 2004 pressings.

Three Stooges Volumes 1 and 2 look and sound great by Sony. A little film grain can be seen in some of them, but it's very minor. Since they are Hi-Def transfers, some very subtle things may be visible on and off, but overall, they are the best quality image I have ever seen. Oh, Son Of Frankenstein on Legacy DVD sets has this snippet excised that you described. What is the running time on the VHS version, so I can compare it to the DVD running time? It's listed on the tape and sleeve. Should be interesting to see if there is any difference.

Rick
