Here's an opinion. I find that flogging part one of the saddest scenes in filmdom. (Sure, there are others but that hits a raw nerve.) It's sad to watch, and often lingers in the mind. It's kind of the feeling one gets when watching the Elephant Man.
I haven't watched Hunchback in awhile, and though it is a masterpiece, I feel great pity and sadness for Quasimodo in certain scenes. I prefer the 1939 version...but dunno, maybe the sound worsens certain elements. Some I know prefer not to watch such movies at all! I imagine censors, or those in programming recognize such elements of pity and sadness, and perhaps delete as they see fit. Of course there would be many opinions regarding this.
OK, time to lighten up..I see my vintage Farmer Alfalfa (aka Farmer Gray) cartoons came in yesterday, maybe I can get a few laughs later. Take care guys, and...Hey! Feel free to cross over the light bridge to the Flash Gordon site. It's not just limited to FG, but beware! We love to kid around. Regards from aka Officer Torch
