In Hack for Christmas, Part 3

(JJ) Yes they do.
(H) Darn, I forgot its Saturday and I imagine the offices are closed today. I was hoping I could make the days work out for us.
(JJ) They might be closed but I have a certain amount of pull around here. After we finish hunting we will make a trip in town to see if I can help.
Are you ready to help me get a deer? Between Dotty and I, we have two deer tags so take a shot if you get one.
(H) Aye, aye sir.
They slowly walked into to the woods and followed the creek for a ways before moving to higher ground and taking a 30 foot spread and sitting down. They listened and waited for light to filter into the woods. They heard movement close to the creek and took up an alert stance.
They could make out 5 doe and 4 yearlings feeding and taking water with lookouts watching nervously. Harm noticed JJ had his scope trained on them finding if any horns could be seen. JJ motioned to wait because other sounds were starting below the crest of the ridge to their right. Harm pointed and JJ signaled for him to watch those close to the ridge as he continued to watch the group by the stream.
JJ turned to Harm and signaled he had a target in his sight but Harm motioned him to wait if he could. JJ returned to his scope but kept glancing up at Harm. Harm raised his hand and pointed up at his new target. JJ saw the big buck and motioned it was Harm’s target. He held up a fist, mouthed 5, and started slowly counting up 5 fingers and both fired when the fifth finger went up. JJ’s deer fell in a heap but Harm’s turned to run and JJ dropped him with a follow-up shot. They quickly ran to the 2nd deer and found a jagged 10 pointer with not one but two lung shots. JJ tied Dotty’s tag on that one and they both made their way to the first. They found a clean 8 pointer which was about 30 pounds lighter than the other. After attaching JJ’s tag, he called the 3rd class on his cell phone. He told him he had two and it caused some excitement because he was in the kitchen and both Dotty and Sarah heard the details.
The driver checked that he had two block and tackles on the truck before he left for the woods. He assisted in field dressing both deer and had them in the bed of the truck all before 09:00. They took them by the house to show the ladies and to clean up before taking them to Clancey’s Meat in town. JJ and Dotty decided how much should be in steaks, roasts, speedy meat, and how much should be ground up. JJ very publicly asked Harm to go with him and they left for Scotland. They dropped off the deer and told how it was to be cut and frozen for them.
JJ and Harm got back in the truck and JJ invited him to get a cup of coffee at the café. They entered and sat on the stools and ordered from Jake.
(JJ) Jake I need a favor. You are still the mayor, aren’t you?
(Jake) Yes, JJ I am. What can I do for you?
(JJ) My friend here has a small problem we need your help with. He is a Commander in my Navy and wants to marry his woman before he has to go back to his ship. The 3 day waiting period is creating a problem for them. Do you think you could find a way to get him a marriage license application dated yesterday since they were here with me yesterday?
(Jake) Well, we do have to take good care of our fighting men don’t we, Admiral. Wait here and I’ll be right back.
(JJ) Harm, small towns are where the good life is. D.C. is OK but no one goes out of their way to help like here. How long you and Sarah been at this thing?
(H) We have been partners close to 8 years and the regs have made life very difficult for both of us. We have had our rough patches but I believe Chegwidden sent us out here during the holidays mainly to force us to finally resolve our relationship, one way or the other. I think he wants us to take positive action to relieve our current situation.
(JJ) Sounds like AJ. Like I said, call me if I can help in the future. OK?
(H) Thank you sir. We might just take you up on that.
(Jake) Here you go Commander. Thank you for fighting for the good old red, white, and blue.
(H) Thank you for this and also for letting us know that you love your country like we do.
(JJ) Well Harm, are you ready to go have brunch with our ladies?
(H) Yes sir. The cold air has given me an appetite.
They thanked Jake and everyone and crawled in the truck. JJ called home to let Dotty know they were hungry and Harm carefully tucked the license application in his coat pocket. They had a large breakfast after getting to the house and told of how the hunt had gone.
Harm took notice of how special Sarah looked this morning knowing that it was he that had given her some major satisfaction during the night. She openly kissed him and blushed when she realized the PDA might be considered inappropriate in front of a senior officer.
(Dotty) It’s OK Sarah. You are among friends here. We violated every fraternization rule in the book when I was in the Navy. We understand where you two are at because I was a Lieutenant when JJ made Commander. Luckily my time was up before anyone took action against us. We still violate the PDA rules every chance we get, even at our age, don’t we JJ?
(JJ) Yes we do. Our motto is, practice every chance you get. We are still trying to get it right even after 33 years.
(S) I hope we can be as happy as you two are.
(Dotty) We still have our moments……………..as often as we can, I might add.
(S) You two are something else and are our kind of people.
(Dotty) Because of the time, why don’t you both clean up and get in uniform again. I had planned on lunch but since we just had a big breakfast, I will pack a couple sandwiches for you to take in your bag.
Harm and Sarah thanked her and retired to the bedroom so Harm could shower and she could refresh again before the uniforms went on. After Harm dried off, he pulled Sarah down to him on the bed.
(H) I gather you enjoyed last evening.
(S) Yes I did, very much so. Seeing and feeling all of your manliness is making me want it for my whole lifetime. You definitely are no longer a prude. In my book, you put all other men to shame.
I was surprised when you went down on me early this morning. Is that something you have done often………………… because you are the first I have ever let do that to me? I’m sorry I got you all wet.
(H) Only with you, babe. I have read many things about it but I never had the desire to do it with anyone else, but with you ………………………. everything is different. I knew it was the right thing to do seeing as how you were paying such special attention to me.
(S) Well…………don’t forget how you did it……..because I am already looking forward too much, much more of it from you.
(H) So, do you think I have enough for you for an entire lifetime?
(S) Well, I don’t know for sure, but………………… I’ll tell you in about 50 years or so.
(H) By that time we will need to take turns starting each other’s rocking chair like on the Carol Burnett’s show. That will be OK though, just as long as we can make it between the sheets every once in a while.
(S) Babe, I am going to hate to leave here. This place is so beautiful and JJ and Dotty are good people.
(H) I imagine we will meet them in D.C. Sarah, we should get dressed and get back at it. I believe today is going to be a very important day for you and me.
They finished dressing and had their seabags ready when the 3rd class came down from his room. They said their good-byes to JJ and Dotty and were invited back at a later time.
They waved and were on their way. The driver took them to the gas station by the entrance ramp to the south-bound lanes of I-81 before letting them out. They thanked him and went inside to stay warm and find their sign. They had the IDAHO sign out waiting to get the courage to brave the cold again when a 50’ish lady spoke up:
(Sue) I am heading that way and can at least get you to Cumberland where I work today.
(S) Thank you. That would be a great help. Let us know when you are ready to leave. It is cold out there.
Harm figured it would take a couple hours to get there and decided they would take the rest of the day off since it was Christmas Eve and very cold. For that matter, he decided to select a nicer motel so they could stay over Christmas day if “the talk” went well tonight. Both got in the lady’s car when she was finished getting gas. Harm sat in the back and let Sarah have the front.
They introduced themselves and Sue stated she was an ER nurse at the Johnson Hospital in Harrisburg and was taking over the ER in the Johnson Hospital in Cumberland for the holidays to give the senior nurse in-charge time off. She explained the Johnson chain had several hospitals in the area and being senior allowed her to sub-in when needed.
Harm found being cold this morning taking its toll on him and he moved into a comfortable position and relaxed and closed his eyes.
(Sue) It looks like your husband is really bushed. Is he OK?
(S) He was out hunting early this morning and it was very cold. I think it is finally catching up with him. And for the record, he is not my husband but the biological father of the baby I am carrying.
(Sue) Sorry to hear that. Is he sticking by you?
(S) Yes he is. I guess you would say that I am the modern version of the Christmas story. We have never been together sexually but he was the sperm donor for my in-vitro fertilization.
