A/N: Sorry that updates have been slow to be posted but we are about 5 weeks into a 9 week northern trip to enjoy the fall leaves and visit family.

He closed the door knowing that she understood everything he had conveyed to her.
Harm returned to the kitchen to have his breakfast because had he stayed, he would have found a way to stay in bed with her for the entire day ……………. or maybe the entire week. Even though she had stated and secured her position with him, he felt more work still needed to be done before they could be intimate with each other.

Harm explained to Elga that little AJ was Chegwidden’s namesake and excluded the fact that big AJ was a retired admiral. He had referred to him just as a military retiree. Sarah joined everyone at 8:00 to have breakfast and helped plan what needed to be done for the day. It was supposed to get up to 60* and she wanted the children out side for a little while anyway.
Harm timed everything right so Elga had to open the front door when Chegwidden arrived. After he picked his eyeballs up off the floor, he came in for a cup of coffee as little AJ was gathering the fishing equipment and putting it in Harm’s car. Sarah greeted him, formally introduced Elga, and watched the interaction. Yes, he was definitely a titty man after all. Elga told him about the silver medal she had received during the 74 Olympics and her enjoyment of running and other exercises. They covered a lot of subjects in a very short time and Sarah noticed that he was acting different around her. She also noticed that Harm almost had to pry him out of the house when they were ready to leave. Who would have guessed that big boobs would be big AJ’s downfall.
After the men left, she carefully said just enough to let Elga know that she had scored big time with AJ and encouraged her to do something to follow up. After Drew was back to sleep, Sarah took the monitor and went outside with the girls for a while. They walked around the house and looked everything over. Sarah had not actually been in the large backyard since she had been there since it had been cold and the ground had snow at different times.
She noticed what she thought a mystery, as the South West corner of the yard had an 8 foot high privacy wooden fence around it making a small area totally private. She pushed the gate open and looked it over. She noticed that the lock was on the inside which could give whomever inside total control. The light finally came on and she smiled knowing that Harm and Harriet must have enjoyed some private sunning in the buff. She even realized that things might be better for Elga now having a place to sun bath. This was definitely going to be something to kid the big man about.
Harm, and the two AJ’s returned at about 12:30 after getting cold enough and catching about 9 pounds of fish. The fishermen took their catch into the backyard and all three had a hand in the cleaning. Sarah stepped out late in the procedure to hand Harm the bottle of Lemon scented liquid soap to make sure the wonderful fish smell did not come back into the house.
Big AJ spent a little extra time in a private conversation with Elga before he left. After everyone changed out of their fishing clothes in the garage, they were permitted back into the house.
After lunch, Sarah invited Harm out to the fenced-in area she had discovered and had her suspicions confirmed. She could only imagine how erotic that might have been for two people in love but if her plans worked, she fully intended to find out.
Harm and Sarah worked forming up an ad to be put in the DC paper offering her Vette for sale. They priced it $ 7,000 higher than the NADA recommended sale price after mentioning it had been in storage for the past 5 years and had low miles. They used the internet to list the ad in the paper to start Monday.
Sunday took on the feel of spring as it was 65* outside. Everyone enjoyed the backyard as Elga and Harm used the grill to create a nice lunch for everyone. Harm and Sarah had packed his bags and was ready for everyone to take him to the airport to make his 19:00 flight. Elga helped by going also to help with the children. It was always an interesting adventure taking the girls into a new environment filled with so many things to see for the very first time. Little AJ was great about keeping tabs on them and being a good big brother. They stayed in the military lounge until the flight was called and Harm had to leave. Harm had hugs and kisses for all the children and then Sarah walked with him as far as she could go before receiving a special kiss. They all waved and he was on his way. On the return trip home, Sarah went thru the Beltway Burger drive-thru to take home dinner for everyone.
Sarah received a call Monday from Harm in Hawaii saying he was OK before he took the COD to the ship. She also received numerous calls about the Vette and received a cashier’s check for the full price selling the car before 5 PM on the first day the ad ran in the paper.
The other days of the week were spent doing an upsetting task that Harm had asked her to do. Sarah let the girls play and spend time in the master suite as she removed all of Harriet’s clothing from the dressers and closets and carefully packed them in storage boxes and moved them into the 4th bedroom. She condensed jewelry from the 3 top shelves of the amore into lower shelves to make room for her own favorite items. She found Harriet’s calendars in a dresser drawer and found they contained many notations and codes which she wanted Harm to explain to her. She finished by moving her own clothing into the drawers and closets. She had very unsettling feelings about doing it but Harm said he was ready and wanted her to help him move on.
Harm left the Nimitz on Sunday after the conclusion of the Article 32 hearing where he strongly suggested that the female Lt. Commander be stationed in the Aleutians rather than be formally court marshaled since she was pregnant and wanted to stay in the navy. The captain of the ship agreed and some semblance of a career was salvaged. He wondered if Sarah would understand and approve him doing exactly what Chegwidden had done to her.
Harm traveled by COD to Hawaii and then flew commercial into San Diego where Trish and Frank was waiting on Monday for him. He spent the rest of Monday, Tuesday and the morning of Wednesday telling them the story of he and Sarah and their new grand daughter she had brought back to him. He helped them make reservations to come to be with his family in DC the following Monday before catching his flight.
He arranged for his driver to pick him up at the airport since his arrival was at 06:35 Thursday and he went by home to have breakfast with everyone. He checked on Drew first and collected a special “welcome home” kiss from Sarah behind closed doors. He admitted that he had missed her much more that he felt he had a right to and she admitted to the same feelings. It was good to again feel missed, wanted and needed by someone so special. At breakfast, he made a major fuss about the girls and was sorry that AJ had already left for school. He explained that Nana and Poppa Burnett would be coming to visit next Monday to meet Sarah and Katie or the first time and to spend time with everyone for a couple weeks.
Later when he checked on Drew, he told Sarah he had explained to his parents about how they were reclaiming the relationship they once enjoyed and were now sharing the same bed and bedroom together. He told her that his mom and dad were pleased that they were working on solidifying their relationship.
(H) I told Frank about you selling the Vette the first day it ran in the paper and he said he wanted to help you buy a new car if it could be a Chrysler product.
(S) Great! I have looked while you were gone and found a red Town and Country van that has everything we need and will carry 8 people. The sticker was $33,200 and it would be good if he could use his pull to get us a better price. Are you OK with me shopping for a car by myself?
(H) I’m good with what ever you want. Just turn the information over to Frank when he gets here because he can make all kinds of things happen when it comes to a Chrysler product.
(S) I made the closet changes you asked me to do. Everything but her calendars has been moved to the 4th bedroom upstairs. I was surprised how doing it affected me. It felt like I was betraying my trust with her because of my strong feelings for you. I want you to decipher her code on the calendars when you have time.
(H) Thank you for doing that for me. I have dreaded even the thought of doing it for so many reasons. You did keep all of her jewelry, didn’t you?
I need to go and finish the day at the office and I need to return a call to the agency about a nanny applicant. Since we now have Elga, you and I need to make some hard decisions tonight about what the correct job description for the next nanny should be. Please talk to Elga today and find how she feels about it before we start. Even though child care isn’t in her job description, she is falling in love with every one of them and I believe her feelings needs to be in our mix.
(S) I condensed the jewelry and will wear some of it when you want me too. I will ask for Elga’s feelings and ideas this afternoon and we can talk after dinner.
Harm told her he would be home at regular time and pulled her in for a kiss like the one she received earlier before he left. No more charades, he kissed her lovingly like his future wife deserved to be kissed.
The workday went well for everyone and the discussion after dinner, although revealing, didn’t settle much about a nanny selection. With Sarah and Elga both watching after the children every hour of the day, they decided a nanny would be more trouble than help. The decision was to delay a nanny until Sarah made a decision about working and or other changes.
The weekend was warmer and the whole family was able to spend more time outside and went to the zoo on Sunday. Drew had increased his breast feeding and seemed to be thriving with the care he was receiving from Sarah and she had quietly and completely accepted him as her own son.
Harm discussed Harriet’s calendars Sarah had saved and de-coded the entries for her. Periods and ovulations were noted. Birthdays of importance were penned in and reminder entries made sure every one was observed properly with cards, parties, and gifts. Everyday had an S followed by H, Har, or Us after it. Harm explained again that Harriet had a very strong sexual appetite and the entry told who had been the center of sexual attention that day. Harm admitted that she planned their sex most of the time and she made sure she kept him happy and well satisfied. Sarah decided she would start her own calendar tomorrow.
Monday found everyone back following the family schedule. Trish and Frank arrived at the airport at 14:10 and collected the Chrysler rental waiting for them. Since Harm had afternoon meetings, he left them in Sarah’s care. By the time he arrived at 18:00, he found that Sarah had warmly welcomed them to the home, properly introduced Katie and Elga to them, and even had had a private conversations with both. In fact the conversation had been brutally honest where Trish admitted owning what they thought was her video and questioned whether she had the moral compass to be a mother and a wife to Harm. She defended herself, denied the video, told of her younger life, and also the life changes that had happened after Harm got her pregnant. She explained that she had loved Harm since forever and all the children and Harm wanted her to share the rest of their lives. She told of why she was there and how Harm was responding to her. They asked many questions and evidently satisfied themselves that she was the answer to a contented life filled with love for Harm. After they openly accepted her, she encouraged them to discuss any of their concerns with Harm if they needed too.
Frank and Trish were very complimentary and openly showed their approval of Sarah when Harm arrived home. He responded warmly and thanked them for coming and being with them. Everyone sat for dinner with the children spaced between them. It was like a love-fest and Frank and Trish could not get over how everyone has grown and how beautiful Katie was and fitted in with everyone. They discussed what they wanted to do and see while in town and Harm told them he had arranged Wednesday off so they could all go act like tourists.
When the meal was over, Frank went with AJ as Trish took over bath duty with the girls. Harm and Sarah stayed with Elga for a minute to discuss glitches in the week and decided how to work with them. They returned to get Drew ready for bed.
(S) Your mom and dad gave me the third degree after they arrived. It was enlightening and proved that your mom is still very protective of you. I was uncomfortable when it started but they are so warm and gracious and we won each other over.
(H) So, is everyone OK now?
(S) More than OK. They said they would like to spend more time with our kids here in DC if we would approve. They spoke of a condo they called about leasing that has an indoor pool and play room. They thought the kids would like the pool, especially during the winters.
(H) I think that would be good for everyone. Do you have reservations of them being with our children?
(S) Not at all if their safety is guaranteed.
(H) It would be nice to have them in D C. I’ll tell them we totally approve if they want to lease a place close by.
Harm delivered the message to his parents as the evening was winding down. Harm checked the house over one last time before settling in with Sarah for the night.
Tuesday was filled with interactions between the girls, their grand parents, Elga, and Sarah. Questions were asked and answered filling in blanks that people had. The bonding process was happening naturally. AJ arrived after school and said the note was given to his teacher about being gone on Wednesday. Frank took over and homework was completed first. Everyone enjoyed the rest of the day.
Everyone was up early on Wednesday and the day was spent seeing and walking from one monument to another. They spent some special time at the black stone Viet Nam wall before returning home. This was the first time there in 5 years for Trish and she still became emotional seeing all of the names of those giving their lives for another nation that still has problems understanding the cost and responsibilities of freedom.
During dinner, Frank suggested Thursday as being a good day to take Sarah shopping for a car and Harm agreed. Harm spent extra time reviewing with little AJ where he had went and what he had seen during the day because he knew his teacher was going to ask him to talk about it tomorrow during class. Sarah had been told that it was the price he would pay for the day off.
Frank and Trish took a very active part in preparing the children for the night as Harm and Sarah looked on. Sarah bathed Drew as Harm stayed close to Frank and had a conversation that was kept private.
Harm checked over the house and ended the day playing with Drew as Sarah prepared to let him feed. Since Drew was half asleep, they carried on their nighttime conversation:
(S) I think today went well. It was good to see you and Frank talking when Trish was with me. She asked me when the wedding was going to be.
(H) And you told her what?
(S) I told her, if and when the two of us decided something about that, she would be the first to know. I told her I didn’t feel rushed about the subject because I felt we already have almost everything a good marriage has.
I tried to explain to her how different our new relationship is now. Almost all of the doubts and things that created conflict between us in the past are no longer even part of our lives. We seem to be spending most of our time trying to please and watch out for each other and our family. And,……………………..if I haven’t told you, I am really enjoying it a whole lot.
(H) I am too. Frank and I had a conversation about the car and my advice is to go along with what he has planned. He and mother want to do something for us.
(S) I’ll call you when we get back so you are in the loop, OK? If you are ready for bed, go ahead because I need to use the pump since he went to sleep instead of eating like he should have.
Sarah was feeling pretty good about everything now because Harm was finding her even in his sleep after she came to bed. She looked forward to his holding and attention.
Thursday came with AJ giving his mini-report in front of the class, Harm at work, and Frank accompanying Sarah to the local Chrysler dealership to look at cars. They both drove several different models and finally the fire-engine red Town and Country van. Frank and Sarah discussed the car a length and agreed it would be the best choice. Frank handed the keys to Sarah and excused himself to go talk to the people.
After a few minutes, Frank returned to the lot where Sarah was looking over the van.
(F) Sarah, I’ll make you a deal. Harm said you received $25,000 for your Vette. Would you be willing to part with $15,000 of that?
(S) Yes, but this van costs much more than that.
(F) Trish and I have set up college 529 plans for AJ and Nicki and we have funded them to the limit to pay for a fine education for both. We just started funding Drew’s account and will now start Katie’s. The van is yours if you will contribute $15,000 to Katie’s plan.
(S) Are you sure? You are going to take care of the car if I will contribute money to my own daughter’s college fund?
(F) Yes. I will put the car in Harm’s name now and he can have it changed to both of you after you are married if you want it that way.
(S) I don’t know what to say other than “Thank you”. This is the best deal I have ever made. Thanks for doing this for us and Katie.
(F) Sarah, the real story is that I have requested two new high technology electric vans for us at $ 1 a year lease. One is red for you guys and a blue one for Trish and I. We will leave the blue one with you when we are in California. They will need to go back to the dealership for tests and result analysis every month but not at the same time. They will be here next Monday for our pickup. Just plug them into a power outlet at night and drive wherever you want.
We have an appointment for Monday to look at the condo we talked to you guys about and I think we will take it because we want to enjoy your kids more as they grow.
Next question: We have noticed you and Harm spend most of your time with the children. How long has it been since you and Harm have spent a night away from the kids just for yourselves?
(S) A long, long time.
(F) Trish and I talked it over and we want to take care of the kids tomorrow night so you guys can spend some quality time together. Go to the beach or somewhere else and let us take care of everything for a day.
(S) That sounds really tempting but I will need to talk to Harm about that. It would need to work for him. Thanks for the offer and I will call him just as soon as we get home.
Sarah took a little time to plan how she was going to present a possible night together before making the call:
(S) Harm, Frank worked a deal for us to lease the latest electric vans being tested by Chrysler for our very own use. He got one also for their use while in DC and we get to use it when they are gone. Both vans should be ready for pickup on Monday.
But, better yet, Frank and Trish want to take care of the kids tomorrow night so you and I can spend a special night away together if it is OK with you.
(H) Would be OK with spending a whole night like that with me?
