Harm and Sarah had survived Harm’s 45th birthday party and talked about some of the funnier parts of it shortly after their good morning kiss. It had been a lot of fun. Getting dressed for their morning run was proving to take a little longer than usual because they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. They both wanted to feel this heat forever.
They were greeted by a lower temperature when they left the house. Fall and impending winter seemed to be in the air. Even though it felt vitalizing, it also was beautiful with changing leaves and breezes. Thoughts of Halloween, Thanksgiving and the holidays invaded their thinking as if coming as a complete surprise. Their first holiday season as a married couple and now a threesome would need to be very special. Sarah stopped abruptly and grabbed Harm into a tight embrace. “Let’s make this really special this year. Let’s find something great that Mattie can be part of away from London.” They both agreed to speak to the travel coordinator (Jennifer) about some holiday get-a-way for at least three.
After finishing a combined shower, they both talked during breakfast of their schedules for the remainder of the week. Sarah and Kate were now meeting daily with Manetti feeding her information about each action activity so she knew the information and evidence she needed to get from each person she interviewed. She had started with the people that were known to have made deliveries for Aziz and Fahd. They wanted to start by finding what was in the packages and where they were being delivered to. Sarah, Kate and Mac were devising plans as to how the needed evidence could be obtained to gain conviction of the perpetrators. Golden Net was now starting to pay off.
Sarah reminded Harm that she had to go again tomorrow for shots and to visit Mattie and Geri. They still needed to decide about Harriett’s implantation. Sarah was leaning toward the later implantation because she really wanted any child she could have to come first. She saw that it sounded irrational since they would all be theirs but still wanted Harm’s focus to be on her first. He completely understood and agreed to have it that way.
Harm said he had already received a call from General Creswell asking him to inform Lt. J.G. Hampton and the others involved with the religious cults to expect transfer orders to new assignments in the states. That sure received immediate attention. Harm had many important trials going on and would be setting in on some for performance assessment. Since he always felt that Sarah was better at this than he, he invited Sarah to attend anytime she needed a break. He told Sarah he would like to take the corvette on a road trip over the weekend and she quickly agreed if they could mix business with pleasure. She needed to see the 4 areas where JAG people had made deliveries for Aziz and Fahd. She asked if she could do the preliminary planning and bring it to him. They agreed they would need to plan their course carefully to avoid expected trouble areas but see some of the parts of England they had heard so much about.

Sarah called Mac and discussed the four delivery points that had been pin pointed. After reviewing the exact location of each of the 5 Marine Golden Net housing areas, Sarah told her what she wanted to do and asked Mac to Fax back her recommendations.

(S) Jennifer, this is Sarah. I need your help. Harm and I are planning a road trip this weekend and I need your help in finding a hotel, motel or bed and breakfast where we can spend Saturday night in Derby in the Nottingham area. Find if they have a Honeymoon suite and a hot tub. We haven’t been in one of those since being married. Call me if you find something. Thanks.

After having dinner, Sarah got out the map and told about the road trip ideas and plans she had made. Sarah had been concerned about security since England was experiencing Bombings and felt she had the solution. She had included her marines in a Convertible Road Rally with their corvette. The Golden Net Marine Unit was housed at 5 different locations with about 40 people at each location with at least one convertible owned by someone. Since the trip would include observation of 4 drop-off points, 5 trip legs would do it. (one for each group of marines.) She told him that the end of the first day could be in Derby, the 3rd drop-off point, and she had asked Jennifer to find a place to stay with a hot tub. Sunday would have 2 legs ending up at Northside so they could see Mattie. Harm thought it would be fun and told her to go for it.

Room 310
Northside Military Hospital

Sarah was waiting in Mattie’s room when she returned from her rehab in her new wheelchair. This was a major first and it was very exciting since she was now mobile. Since Sarah had already been told about the chair, she asked Mattie to accompany her on her appointment with Dr. Simms. She assured her that she would have her back before her 12:00 lunch. Before leaving, Sarah asked both girls if they had taken sex education in school. Mattie had but Geri had not since she had attended schools for the disabled.
Dr. Simms took everything in stride and invited Mattie to come along with Sarah for her examination. Mattie watched as Sarah undressed completely and put on a gown. Sarah noticed how embarrassed and uncomfortable Mattie was at seeing her completely naked. Sarah was then examined and received the shots from the huge long needles. Mattie’s demeanor was the same as Sarah’s when the large syringes were pushed to the empty position. Ugg…..ugg. Dr. Simms asked if Sarah intended to nurse the baby if they were so lucky to have one. She said she did because she felt it would increase the mother/child feelings of bonding.
Dr. Simms talked and joked with Mattie until she found she had not been receiving female examinations since she had gone into the comatose state. The doctor made a quick call to room 310 and found that Geri was not receiving attention either. She told her nurse to schedule Sarah for a mammogram, a full breast exam and for shots at 13:00 next Friday followed by examinations and a CA-125 blood test for Mattie and also Geri after they got her parent’s permission. She asked her nurse to make the call. She explained that she would arrange that day off school for them. Sarah asked the nurse if she had videos about sex education and about a girl’s first examination and the nurse gave her both. Sarah was pleased that more attention was now being paid to the two girls. Sarah quickly made a cell phone call to Linda to explain what had happened and told her to expect the call from the nurse. She asked Linda if it was OK for Geri to see the videos the nurse had provided. Linda said yes and was happy that Sarah was looking out for the girls.
Sarah pushed Mattie’s chair on a new route past the canteen where she picked up a salad and water for herself so she could spend time with the girls while they had their lunch. While they ate together, Mattie wanted to know more about Sarah’s upcoming surgery. Sarah told her that both she and Harm would be at the hospital on October the 10th for the harvesting of her eggs and their fertilization by sperm from Harm. She jokingly told her she would only be able to watch part of the procedure. She explained that she would undergo the endometriosis surgery on October 13th followed immediately by implantation of the fertilized eggs if possible. The expected hospital stay was to be 6 days followed by light duty at home for 3 weeks if everything went well. Mattie thought it would be so cool for Sarah to be where she was for a few days.
Sarah opened the subject of how Mattie felt about seeing her completely naked and examined today. Since it had embarrassed Mattie, Sarah explained that as family, the two of them needed to look out for one another. Both girls were old enough now to be receiving female examinations and Sarah wanted them to understand how important it was. Sarah explained that she now had Harm to look her body over for changes and suggested that each should have someone look them over every so often. She made her point that each girl needed to feel comfortable confiding in someone when any changes in her skin and body were noticed. Bruises, lumps, and discoloration were signs that needed to be noticed early and steps taken. Confiding in another adult female was to be preferred but if not available, telling their fathers, so he could get help, would be better than doing nothing at all. Sarah understood that being naked in front of your mother may not be very “Cool” but told them it was important to be comfortable talking and telling when something was changing. Both girls agreed they would keep their moms clued in. Sarah found herself sounding like a Mom.
Sarah put the sex education video in the machine and started it for them to watch for the rest of the time until school started. It had been created for the med students and was very graphic. After the teacher arrived, Sarah explained why they were watching the video and the teacher agreed that the information on the two tapes offered them better lessons than she had prepared for the day so they would finish the two tapes as today’s school work. Sarah finished her conversation, gave Geri a hug and “knocked” her new ring with Mattie’s and hugged and kissed her. She told her about the road trip planned for the weekend and said she and Harm would stop by on Sunday. With an “I love you both” she was out the door. Both girls were finding Sarah to be someone really special.
Sarah went by Mac’s office on her way out. They discussed how marines from the unit could be used to gain evidence about the 3 other clubs owned by Aziz and Fahd Services. Sarah was determined to close all 5 clubs and put Aziz and his partner in jail and throw away the keys after the ordeal with Mary Newman. It was agreed to send 2 male marines dressed in civvies to each club to find who they catered to and how it worked. It was thought that at least one was a gay bar. Mac would call her with the results.
CIA California, which had been in charge of investigating the Golden Net money trail, sent Sarah two complete lists of every credit card charge, check, and any other transaction that could be found to Aziz, Fahd, Aziz and Fahd Services, or in the name of any of the 5 clubs. One list was for anything made by any JAG member and the other included everyone else. The second list would be of interest to Scotland Yard later. The information also showed the date, who made it, who it was authorized by, and the amount. Sarah had given Manetti a copy of the JAG list to help her with the interviews and to gain evidence. The CIA had also provided phone records from all 5 clubs and Aziz and Fahd. Sarah felt they already had enough evidence to bring several charges and then add more as evidence became available. Kate was prepared to requisition all bank records for Aziz, Fahd, Aziz and Fahd Services, and all 5 clubs as soon as Scotland Yard was ready to shut them down.

Saturday, 24 September

After putting the umbrella, extra jackets and rain gear in the corvette, both Sarah and Harm came in for the breakfast prepared by Hazel. After they finished, Hazel gave them a very large picnic basket filled with who knows what to make sure no one went hungry. They conviently put that in the small storage area behind the front seats within arms reach. They were off to Northside to meet up for the first leg of trip. The first car was a 1958 Pontiac Bonneville convertible with 2 couples in it. The owner and driver was a tall sergeant which outweighed Harm by 30 pounds. The second car was Mac’s pale green 1966 Thunderbird convertible with 2 couples in it. The final car was a 2005 red Shelby Mustang convertible with 2 guys and a girl which would bring up the rear. After everyone got a copy of the map for the first leg, checked weapons, and put their tops down, the 58 Bonneville took the lead and in proper marine form tucked their officers, with Sarah driving, in the number two slot. They took to the road slowly and took intervals of about 20 car lengths between each.
They traveled at an average speed which would make any attempt of an attack very obvious. The first leg of 85 miles went quickly and they entered the town and sought out the address of the first drop-off point. They were surprised to find it to be a Mosque. They took pictures of the building and made note of the time. They consulted their map and drove north out of town to the point where they were to meet the next group. Everyone enjoyed things from the picnic basket and exchanged maps and thank you’s.
The next leg had only 2 cars joining Harm and Sarah. Two couples in a gold 1962 Pontiac Bonneville convertible with Tri-Power and 4 lady marines in a red Cadillac Alante convertible. After a map review and weapons check, the people in the 2005 red Shelby decided to tag along for the second leg to bring up the rear. Mac was reluctant to leave Harm and Sarah unprotected and asked to join the red Shelby group and was accepted making it 2 couples. One of the guys in Mac’s Thunderbird agreed to leave it back at the hospital. The cars took to the road in the same basic plan and started the leg having some very tricky curves. It was a real fun experience with everyone enjoying the drive.
As they approached the second drop-off point, the Pontiac blew a tire and went to the right side into the ditch. The other three cars took up positions around the Pontiac and everyone helped to make the tire change quickly. The problem was that 4 cars with USA plates attracted attention and suddenly a crowd started to gather. After the tire was changed and the Pontiac pulled out of the ditch, everyone loaded and started out again. A check in the rear-view mirror had a black car trailing at a reasonable distance. Harm decided that ranks needed to be closed and gave hand signals for a pull over. The guys in the Red Shelby read the signal and dropped back quickly to trap the black car in between. It was show-down time. The Black car pulled to a stop where the front 3 cars had stopped and the man getting out flipped open his CIA ID. Harm and Sarah approached the man and asked him to move to the side with them so they could talk. The agent told them he was working a case and their presence had just spooked his prey. Sarah explained who they were and told him they were there to check out two drop-off points at these addresses, showing the addresses to him. He lit up because one of the addresses was his assignment. He got in his sedan and led the cars through the town to the addresses on their list. One was the Black Cat club and the other was another Mosque. After pictures were taken, Sarah and Harm gave the agent their cards and accepted his. She explained that she was going to do everything possible to put these people in prison…..forever. He said to call him if he could help. Feeling the situation had been resolved, the 4 cars got back on the road to the end of the leg.
After they joined up with the new crew, the picnic basket was brought out a second time and everyone enjoyed a snack. The cars for the third leg were 3 lady marines in a blue 65 Mustang convertible and two couples in a white Lincoln convertible with suicide doors. The gang in the red Shelby asked Sarah and Harm if they minded if they went the whole distance with them. Since the concept of “Going the distance” was something that touched deep places within Harm and Sarah, the answer was “yes.” Sarah got on her cell phone and called the Colony Inn and reserved two more rooms and told them to combine it with there bill.
The 4 cars took to the road with 92 miles to go. After they took their interval everything evened out and a constant speed was maintained. It was a real kick to navigate the poor roads and all the curves. They pulled into the area of the 3rd drop-off points and took pictures of the addresses. One was a nice 4 floor office building and the other, another mosque. After getting the pictures, Harm led the way to the Colony Inn where the marines in the blue Mustang and the white Lincoln took their leave with the thanks of Sarah and Harm. Harm explained to the red Shelby couples that he and Sarah had paid for two rooms for them to make sure they got some rest since they were “going the distance” with them. They left the sleeping arrangements up to the two couples to work out. Harm explained they were in adjoining rooms, 119 and 120, and he and Sarah were in the honeymoon suite. He told them to assemble at 07:30 and not to call them without it was really important……….
The honeymoon suite was great with flowers everywhere, a heart shaped bed, and a big hot tub. After their meal, delivered by room service, they got in the hot tub for the first time without suits. Marriage was great. They thoroughly enjoyed everything about the whole evening which included sex both in and out of the tub. Sleep was soft and enjoyable as they held each other.
Derby England
Sunday, 25 September

After breakfast, from room service, they were dressed and back to the cars. That red Shelby looked like it was moving even while standing still. The new crew was 3 lady marines in a black Trans-Am convertible, two couples in a green Volkswagen convertible, and a couple in a maroon 66 Grand Prix convertible. After everyone received copies of the map and checked weapons, the black Trans-Am took the lead with the red Shelby bringing up the rear. The ride took them through some of the beautiful Robin Hood countryside they had read about. The 79 miles were taken in stride while enjoying the changing leaves and roads. They went to the address of the fourth drop-off point and found it to be an exotic dance studio. After pictures were taken, they made their way to the forth meeting place. After the crews met, the last of the picnic basket food was devoured and the last crew left with Sarah and Harm’s thanks.
The new crew included 2 couples in a red Charger convertible, two ladies and a man in a 68 Chrysler 500 convertible, and a couple in a yellow 2005 Crossfire convertible. This was the home bound leg and seemed more relaxed than the others. The Crossfire took the lead and the red Shelby brought up the rear. About 20 minutes into the drive, a black Mercedes lay out and passed the Shelby at a high rate of speed and settled in behind the Charger. They traveled that way for about 5 minutes and the Mercedes made another high speed pass and pulled in back of the Corvette. Fearing what might be going on, the red Shelby passed and pulled behind the Mercedes. The Mercedes lay out to pass the Corvette, pulled along side as the passenger fired 4 pistol shots into the Corvette as it passed. The driver in the red Shelby saw what had happened and overtook the Mercedes and forced the car off the road into a tree. Car parts flew everywhere before the car burst into flames followed by a deadly explosion. Everything immediately slowed down and Harm pulled the Corvette to the side.
Everyone ran to the Corvette and found Harm with a bullet wound on the top side of his arm and Sarah shook up but OK. The bullet holes had really played havoc with the fiberglass but it was drivable. After looking over the burning remains of the Mercedes, nothing was left to give them a clue as to who or why they were fired upon except the plate number. Sarah made a quick cell call to Mr. Willow at Scotland Yard and gave him coordinates of the burning 300D Mercedes, its license plate number, and told him what happened. He said he would send a team and was glad that nothing more serious happened. He told her that he would follow up on the plate number and get back to her. She explained they were going to room 310 at Northside should he need anything further.
As the 5 cars got back on the road, the interval was shortened up some and nothing else happened for the remaining 49 miles. Sarah drove as Harm was nursing a wounded arm and their destination of Northside was the perfect place to be going. When they arrived, Sarah and Harm thanked everyone for their help and gave them a “Big Salute.” Harm asked each one of the marines in the red Shelby to call into the Library Command Center tomorrow morning for instructions.
Sarah helped Harm into the hospital and attracted immediate attention with all the blood evident on Harm’s arm and clothing. She explained they were going to room 310, where their daughter was, and asked that someone be sent there to help Harm. As they got off the elevator on the 3rd floor, a doctor with his nurse in tow followed him into Mattie’s room. After Harm had hugged and kissed Mattie, he let the doctor remove all the bandages they had fashioned out of tee shirts, to find the area where the bullet had creased him. The doctor put in stitches where he could and dressed the wound loosely to allow healing.
Harm turned to Mattie who was reacting badly to his being wounded. He grabbed her into a strong hug and spoke assurance to her. He had experienced so many bumps and scrapes that this was no big deal to him but it evidently was to her. He held her until her body relaxed and then he backed away with a parting kiss. He went over and sat on the side of Geri’s bed and asked her if she was OK. Geri broke into tears and accepted Harm’s hug. Sarah came and took over the hug from Harm and sat there slowly rocking Geri back and forth. It had become apparent that Allen and Linda were not coming to visit very often and it was making Geri feel unloved. Sarah explained that she and Harm only had Mattie and understood that her mom and dad had her two siblings to take care of every day which made visiting very difficult. She explained that she and Harm had decided to be stand-ins, substitutes, fill-ins or whatever she wanted to call them because they thought she was so special. Being thought special brought an end to the tears and a smile as a reward for Sarah. Things were going to be better.
Harm found that dinner would be in the room in 45 minutes and asked Sarah if she wanted to have wheelchair races. They got the girls neatly tucked in the chairs and made a tour around the hospital using any corridor they could find. They passed by the canteen and talked the two girls into takeout ice cream. Harm and Sarah selected salads and water with 4 large banana splits with extra hot fudge syrup. They arrived at the room as dinner was being brought in. They all took a seat and took a vote. Since the vote was 4 to 0, everyone ate their banana split first. Sarah and Harm had learned an important lesson in life that sometimes we should all have dessert first.
