An easy pattern is to make a chain for as wide as you want the afghan then turn and do five double crochet( one in each chain) then chain five connect in fifth chain with a double crochet plus one in each chain (total of five doubles) so what you will have is five doubles crochet an spaces with five chain stitches. When you get done the chains space to take one pull the one above it through an so one to the end.Then when you are all finished with afghan I crochet all the way around the afghan an chain stitch in each five chain space to secure it.
