My mother once showed me a pattern for making a square blanket by starting with a single square the next row had 2 squares, then 3 then I believe 5. At any rate it formed a triangle and when it got large enough you started decreasing until the square was formed. My mom is no longer alive so I can't ask her and I cannot find this pattern. Any idea as to what I may be talking about? Any help would be appreciated. Some people might just use the triangle for a shawl.

- Mark Project with Hook Size & Balling Yarn to Pull from Middle -- Judy Bailey (Happy Nana), 17:13:51 12/26/11 Mon (adsl-99-53-143-134.dsl.hstntx.sbcglobal.net/99.53.143.134)
Write your crochet hook size on back of a business card, punch a hole in card, and tie card to project with tail of beginning chain. You will remember you size hook if you do not work on that particular project for a while and not leave your hook in with another project and forget which project you left the hook.
Use a full length travel toothbrush holder when balling yarn. The cap allows you hold one end of the yarn, wrap the ball of yarn on the opposite end and once ball in complete, pull yarn/toothbrush holder from the middle of ball and your yarn is ready to crochet without rolling around.

I have made/are making baby blankets with three colors of yarn with a Red Heart pattern called Dots & Dashes Crochet Throw. I make it basically the same size and use any three colors the mother wants. So far all who have received one are thrilled with them. The first one was cream, blue-green and a light heathered brown. The second is cream, pink and chocolate brown. So you could use the gray in place of brown and then interchange the other colors as you want. The website is www.redheart.com and again is called "Dots & Dashes Crochet Throw".

Hello, I'm new to crochet. Still trying to figure some of the terminology. Could someone explain or point me in a direction that explains this? This is for the border of an afghan, I'm assuming it's the base of the fringe. I have made the gauge square and the size is right. I wanted to add the border and fringe to the gauge square so I know what I am doing before it start the full project. I know that the sc count will be different since it is just a portion, but other than that, this makes no sense to me. If I ch 1 and do not turn, am I supposed to be going up the side of the square? I'm guessing that evenly spaced means that I will not be hooking every loop on the side. Next portion I have no clue. help please.
"Ch 1, do not turn; working in end of rows, work 155sc evenly spaced across; working in free loops of beginning ch 3 sc in first ch, work 99 sc evenly spaced across to last ch, 3 sc in last ch; working in end of rows, work 155 sc evenly spaced acrossed: 415 sc.

- Prayer request for Maria Perez/IRS Problems -- Mrs. Celia (Sally) Valdez (Joyful), 21:06:15 09/14/11 Wed (216-67-30-204-rb2.nwc.dsl.dynamic.acsalaska.net/216.67.30.204)
Hello, my dearest sister-in-Christ, I just finished praying over your prayer request, and I wanted to share something of similiaity with Maria Perez, whose posted you say has fearful IRS problems, and she's disabled. I also am or had that issue, IF, she wants to cut off that accountant, and instead take her paperwork directly to the IRS office in your city and ask for help, they will gladly and patiently listen to her issues and recommend a "Waiver" due to disability, and low income status. It worked for me, and I sleep oh so much better.
Hold the Rope, (faith) and if you don't realized that God, our Father is holding the other end and never let's go, you'll never want to let go of your end, Maria, if you are too ill or weak, ask someone closest to you to "Hold the Rope" for you, as we pray, praise, and ponder on God's grace, mercy and unrelenting love, you notice that you wrap your hand aroung that Rope of Faith and w/o realizing you'll be what? "closer to Father God", go grap a piece of rope and have someone hold one end, then you wrap your end around and around and around, my message is there will be temptations, fearful demons, illness, drugs, and other demonic beasts that will always come into your life, and convince you to "Let Go of The Rope" you don't need it............these distractions are what Satan wants to steer you away from your relationship with Jesus Christ, God, and His Holy Spirit, so feel free to send me a message to "hold the rope" for you, sister, my prayers are on their way.
Peace be with you, and joy of God's love bless you everyday.

I am looking for a doily that I think is called Dogwood Blossom and Pineapple design. It is an old pattern and has a dogwood blossom in the center, a circle of pineapples and then a circle of dogwood blossoms on the out side. My aunt that I am named for made this doily years ago and I would like to make one.

Hello Lisa,
I am extremely sorry to bother you with so many questions. I really like the link you gave me for making ponchos. I had earlier posted a question about how to increase the stitches in case a different yarn is used. I have another doubt also. could you please tell me what is meant by 4X and 6X in the pattern below
Thank you very much for taking time to answer my queries.
Row 1: Ch3, dc in next sc, ch 1, sk 1 sc, (dc in next 2 sc, ch 1, sk next sc) 4X, work center shell (see note #2, above) in next sc, ch 1, sk next sc, (dc in next 2 sc, ch 1, sk next sc) 10X, work center shell, ch 1, sk next sc, (dc in next 2 sc, ch 1, sk next sc) 5X. Join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3.

Thank you for the link. I have found a good pattern from the link given by you. I have a doubt regarding the gauge, the yarn I am using is different than the one in the pattern so when I make 63 chains as per the pattern it is looking shorter. kindly advise as to how to increase so that I obtain the required gauge. Thank you once again.

I'm trying to make hats, but I'm having some trouble. They're suppose to fit a 22"-23" head, finished circumference 21". But it always ends up too small. I have done the gauge, used a bigger hook but it still comes out too small. The directions tell you to Ch 4 and join with a sl st to form ring, would it help to maybe chain more and then proceed from there to make it larger. I can't seem to get it right. Thanks!
