I've had difficulty finding crochet patterns for grade school aged boys who are larger than toddlers but too small for men's patterns. Plenty of girls' patterns for this age group, but none for boys.
I'd appreciate leads on patterns for this age group for boys (ages 7-11).
Thanks!

Got an email from a crocheter who obviously saw my posts on a forum and thought it was my website. She needs help with a sweater pattern. I haven't done many sweaters, so I'm afraid I'm not much help here.
Was hoping you guys could help her. Here is her email:
From: zeniada beltran
Subject: crochet tips
hello......i have visited you web page many times in hope to find answers to my questions and so far i have gotten lucky. However this time i am stuck i am working on a sweater for my daughter and part of the pattern tells me to "drop the loop, but do not finish off" now i know what wat drop the loop means and what finish off mean but what i dont understand is am i supposed to cut the yarn? i am making the sleeve part of the pattern and i am supposed to join yarn with a slip st in x amount of stitches down the row and the only logical conclusion i got is that i have to cut and then when it says pick up loop after x amount of stitches i join again..... i hope you can help or i have gotten half way done with this sweater and will just have to rip it out and try something else.... thank you Zeniada
If you can help her, please email me.

Lisa, This is an additional response for the 4/15/09 CNM newsletter inquiry for a missing basketweave afghan pattern that started with a chain 7. Someone referenced a Corner to Corner afghan pattern. There is a fantastically quick & easy basketweave pattern that was included in the following pattern book: "Crochetd Favorites & Originals of Jessie Abularach - Volume Two, copywrite 1980. The same basic pattern is also shown as a pillow and a shawl. The pattern starts chain 7, however, uses treble crochet and works up so fast that a baby afghan could be done in a weekend. In addition to afghans and shawl, the book contains 50 patterns, i.e. doll toilet paper cover, towel topper, hotpads, flowers, baby clothes... This is the best crochet book I ever purchased and I have a fairly large library full.

Does anyone know if this was a regular bedspread weight(sz10)cotton thread? The hook called for in the pattern is a sz 8, so I'm thinking it probably is. But I would like to be sure before I start the project. Thanks for any help

I am looking for a pattern of a doiley that was made in England. It is circular and has a ring of peacocks around the inner circle of the doiley, and another circle of peacocks around the outside edge.
The peacocks are not flat, but shaped like a peacock sitting up with their wings spreadout and the tips of their ourside feathers joined to the next peacock. It was sent to a friend of mine here in the U.S.A.
I would love to have the directions and make one myself.

I am still going bonkers over finding how to do this hotpad using the bead stitch. I have googled it and all I get is how to put beads on a stitch.
I don't understand the directions all the way. It seems to me I would insert hook in the specified stitch, pull up a loop while holding back last loop on hook, yarn over and pull through first hoop on hook only. Do this 3 times...then yo pull through both loops on hook.
To me it reads like I put hook in stitch, pull up a loop while holding back last loop on hook, yarn over and pull through first hoop. I do this 3 times in the same stitch, but then I have too many stitches to end up with so I can't yo pull through both loops on hook at the end...
I googles advanced crochet stitches and found something called the berry stitch. This sounds similiar to the bead stitch. However it does not say hold back first loop on hook and has an illistration. The illistration looks like put hook in stitch yarn over, pull up through hoop and chain 2 more times for a total of 3 chains then you pull both loops through at the end.
Are these two stitches the same but different names or is holding back last hoop on hook, yo and pull through first loop only, 3 times means in the same stitch.. I hope I explained that correctly..
I would love to see a video or even some kind of illistration on here...Better yet how about some advanced abbrevations and illistrations..
Have a Blessed Day!
Can someone please help, my hot pad is on hold...

- Help with Easter Hot Pad -- Pam (GGGGGRRRRRR), 09:54:19 03/23/09 Mon (96-28-32-89.dhcp.insightbb.com/96.28.32.89)
I have emailed over and over about this hot pad but have not gotten an answer from crochetnmore, which is unusual.
I also have emailed her about the dog sweater I made which turnout great. However one thing I need to know why does the sweater stretch out so much? My dog can only wear it about 3-4 days it stretches too much for a male dog and he gets pee on it, yuk.
Anyway back to the hot pad, the directions are easy however I have not done a turn ch1 and sc in same stitch before. It's always been the next st.
So when I do sc in same st it gets wider and wider at that end kinda at an angle.
Plus I am using the recommended hook, and yarn but the start chain still does not come out to the 9 1/2 inch wide as stated in pattern. No matter how loose I make the chain it will not come out to the 9 1/2 inches wide.
Just a note though as I crochet each row and that row that gets wider at a slant does start to gain inches. Can someone please help and tell mw what I am doing wrong. A video on this one would be a great help... have a Blessed Day!

Hello, Lisa,
First of all I must say that this is the most wonderful website. I look forward to receiving my newsletter and finding the new patterns that you share. The praises that you give to God lift me up as well, and I've especially needed those lately while looking after my 82-year-old Mom who has been diagnosed with Parkinson Disease with Dementia.
Now, my question. I was suckered into signing up with Stamps.com, only to find out that the service while probably good for businesses, is not made for personal use. I've had a problem having my account cancelled until yesterday when I insisted that it be closed. Their personnel are trained to offer more "deals" if you stay on. Anyway, I am now the owner of a stamps.com scale that hooks to my computer by a USB cable. Do you know of software that would be compatible with the scale that would enable me to keep using it?
Thanks so much, and my God keep on blessing ya'll.

Help! I have been looking for afghan patterns using the afghan stitch. Tthe one that you use a long hook and load the loops on the hook then work them off for each row). I would appreciate any one that can direct me to some patterns or a book of patterns. Cheap is good free is better. Thank you

- rug hooking pattern? -- Anne Enger, 18:33:12 02/01/09 Sun (ool-4350bfe8.dyn.optonline.net/67.80.191.232)
I understasnd that this site is for crocheting, but I have had great luck in the past when I needed long lost patterns and can not find a similar web site for rug hooking, so I will give this a try and keep my fingers crossed!
Many years ago (1985?) I purchased a rug hook kit from Mary Maxim one of a panda bear and one of a lion . These rugs were for the children to lay on (they resembled a bear skin rug) The kids were small then and unfortunattly I never found the time to begin them. I recently found them buried in my craft closet but to my dismay, there are no instructions or pattern on how to complete. I have just become a grandma and thought that these would be great for our new little one. If anyone has any info on this or can point me in a different direction I would be ever sdo grateful.
Thank You
