The characters aren't mine, I'll just borrow them for the story.

Mistakes are all mine...

The story is set somewhere, sometime..

Busy

Harm hurried down the stairs, crossed the living room in a slow jog and entered the kitchen. Mac was busy feeding their one year old daughter Beth, and their three year old twin boys were busy throwing cereal on each other.

«Matthew and Benjamin, stop that!» Mac said and gave her husband a sharp look.

Harm hurried over to the boys. «Boys, food is for eating,» he said in a tired voice.

«We have to clean up and go now,» Mac said and stood. «Grandma and grandpa are waiting.»

«Are we eating at Mom and Franks house tonight? I might be late,» Harm said as he grabbed some toast on his way out of the kitchen. «Come on boys, let's get the two of you into the car.»

Mac followed behind with Beth. «How late?»

«I don't know yet. It depends on how it goes in court. I'll text you when I know,» Harm said as he closed the front door. «Matthew don't pull on your brother.»

They secured the kids in the car and Harm walked over to his car. «See you later.»

«See you,» Mac said as she opened the card oor and got in.

After delivering the children with her mother in law, Mac drove to work. On her way there she drove past a park where Harm and her took the kids on weekends. She smiled at the thought, until she started wondering when they had last done something together as a family. Last weekend she'd been alone with the children because Harm had wanted to prepare for court. Then the weekend before she had been out of town on a JAG conference.

The more she thought about it she could see a pattern. When had they last been out on a date together? When did they have lunch together last? When did they last meet for lunch at home last, and in stead of eating ended up in the bedroom?

As she arrived at the office she had started to worry about their marriage.

Harm walked into his office and was met by his colleague Alicia Grey. She was young and hungry for success, one of the firms most promising young lawyers and a great asset.

«Morning, Harm. I have all the files you need ready for you, and coffee of course.»

Harm smiled. «Thank you.» He put his briefcase on his desk and saw Mac's face smiling at him from the frame they had bought in Italy two years ago. Had he kissed her goodbye this morning? He didn't think so. He'd kissed Beth, and hugged both boys, but he hadn't kissed his wife.

«Is everything okay, Harm? Did I forget something?» Alicia asked.

Harm reached for his iPhone. «No, everything is fine. I just remembered that I forgot to give Mac a kiss this morning.»

«Oh,» Alicia said not sure how to act as Harm looked sad. «Maybe you should take her to lunch?»

Harm smiled warmly. «You know Miss Gray, that was an excellent idea.»

Alicia smiled. «Isn't that why you hired me?»

Harm chuckled as he texted his wife. «We better go to court now.»

Mac had just taken the first sip of the coffee that Petty Officer Coates had brought for her when her iPhone let her know that she had a new message.

'Babe! I left without a kiss, meet me for lunch and I'll give it to you!'

Mac smiled as she read it. She texted him back; '12.30?'

'Meet at our bench? I'll bring Chinese takeout?»

'Sounds great! Love you!'

'Love you too!'

At 12.30 precisely Harm sat down on their bench outside Mac's office. He looked around for Mac, but among the uniformed men and women enjoying lunch, his Marine was nowhere to be seen. He was about to reach for his iPhone when he heard her soft voice behind him.

«I'm here.»

He stood and turned around to greet her. «I thought you'd forgotten about me,» he teased.

«No way,» she leaned in and kissed him sweetly. «I never forget it when handsome men offers me a kiss.»

«Does handsome men often offer you kisses?» Harm wanted to know as they sat down.

«It happens,» she teased. «So, what brings you to my doorstep?»

He opened the bag of food. «We've been busy lately,» he said and offered her the food he'd brought for her.»

Mac gladly accepted the food. «Very.»

«I realized something today,» he said as he watched her.

«Yeah?»

Harm smirked. «I don't have to work late tonight, I'll have Miss Grey do the preparations for tomorrow. I realized that there's a reason why I hire good people. It's so that I can go home early and be with you and the kids.»

Mac smiled warmly. «It's hard to let go, huh?»

Harm nodded. «Very. But I think I'm getting better at it.»

«I think we both are,» Mac said and reached for his hand.

«I'm sorry I forgot what's important,» he said and kissed her hand. «I'll make it up to you tonight.»

«Oh yeah? How?» she teased.

«It's not appropriate to say out loud in public,» he said with a slight blush. «You have to be able to look these people in the eyes and bark orders, and I'm afraid you won't be able to do that if they know what I want to do to you.»

Mac chuckled. «You're cute when you blush.»

He just looked into her eyes. «I love you, Mac. You and the kids are the most important thing to me. You know that, right?»

Mac nodded. «I know.» She truly loved the few moments when her husband opened up and poured his heart out. «I love you too.»

«Excuse me ma'am, sir. General Cresswell is on the phone, and it's urgent.» Petty Officer Coates had walked up to them without either of them noticing.

«Thanks Coates,» Mac said and stood.

«It's been two years Jennifer, when are you going to stop calling me sir?»,» Harm said with a teasing smile as he stood. «See you tonight,» he said to Mac and kissed her sweetly.

«Nice lunch, ma'am?» Coates asked as they walked inside.

«Very nice,» Mac confirmed.

Later that night, after the children had fallen asleep Harm and Mac shared their feeling for the other the way only lovers can.

The end.
