A/N – Finally got a few minutes to myself, of course my mind wandered to Harm! This is the result. And it’s only taken three days to get it from paper to computer!



Harm had had the dream before. It started about the time he realized he was in love with his partner. It wasn’t an unpleasant experience; most times it was quite pleasurable however this time something was different. Different enough to wake him and cause him to sit up in shear panic.

The dream was a simple one, there was him and then there was Mac. The location would change depending on his mood and his current relationship with the brown eyed Marine. If they were on assignment together, the dream would take place in a secluded mountain retreat, away from everyone they knew. If they were on separate assignments the dream took place at an airport or train station, where one was waiting for the other to arrive. At odds with Mac? He invariably found himself in a boxing ring opposite his marine. But it never failed whatever the situation the dream always ended with him and Mac together.

Harm’s subconscious was prepared for tonight’s dream. Mac was on assignment in the Atlantic on board a carrier. He was sure tonight’s dream would have him at the docks waiting for Mac’s ship to arrive. But tonight the dream started out with him at home alone playing his guitar. He couldn’t remember the song; only that it was a sad tune. There was a knock at the door, thinking it was Mac he jumped up and opened the door to discover Annie, Jordan and Renee on the other side. Three former girlfriends each dressed in black. Where was Mac? He knew she was in the Atlantic, observing war games. Was his subconscious telling him something? Had something happened to Mac? Just as Annie began to speak, Harm woke.

Shaken, he didn’t know what to think. His “Mac” dream didn’t have Mac in it. Too restless to go back to sleep, Harm threw on his sweats and headed out for his morning run, albeit two hours early.

His arrival at JAG headquarters turned a few heads and raised a few eyebrows. You would have thought he had never arrived for work at 0700 before. Of course he didn’t get much work accomplished because his soul reason for being there was to see Sarah Mackenzie as soon as possible. He could have called her, but the war games were being conducted in black out conditions, no communication. But even if he could talk to her he knew that would not have settled this uneasiness within him. He had to see her. He just had to wait; she was due back in a few hours.

Mac finally arrived at headquarters. She was just as he envisioned her in his dream; tall, confident, and proudly wearing her Marine green uniform. It only took one look for him to understand the meaning of his dream.

She missed a step as she walked through the bullpen when she realized Harm was already at work. She was surprised; he was going to be her first phone call when she got to her office. As she looked closer she noticed how tired he looked. Bypassing her office, she headed straight for Harm’s office. Before she could tease him about the early hour he was out of his chair and around his desk. He took her hands in his, greeted her with a kiss on the check and said

“We need to talk about the future. Our future.”

Then he smiled. He was about to make his dream a reality.
