They used to give lines and essays at my school. The essays seem to take ages to finish. Girls seem to get more writing punishments. I think some women teachers take a delight in giving them a weekend of lines to write.

I suppose 500 lines is an old fashioned but very effective punishment, particularly if the lines is long. lol
