Subject: River Fest 2009 10th Annual Pageant Program

The Lower West Fork River Fest is now accepting applications for it’s 10th annual pageant program to be held Saturday, June 14th at 1 p.m. at Worthington Park .
The theme for the festival is “Wild Wonderful Wetlands” and a tribute to the great swamp resident, Shrek.
The levels of competition include Photogenic Baby, Tiny Miss, Little Miss, Junior Miss, Teen Miss and Miss LWF River Fest 2008.
All candidates U.S. citizens and legal residents of West Virginia.
Photogenic Baby is open to newborns to three year olds. There will be six age category finalists and one overall baby winner. Specialty awards are presented. You must submit one 8 x 10 framed photograph/portrait for judging. Contestants are to participate in the grand parade preceding competition. They are to ride in a wagon or stroller. Parents are encouraged to decorate their strollers or wagons as they will be judged on the parade route with trophies awarded to the top 3 entrants. Casual attire is suggested. The application fee is $15.00. All contestants receive trophies and gift hags. Overall Baby 2008 is awarded a trophy, portrait package, embroidered sash and gift bag.
Tiny Miss is open to young ladies ages 4 to 6. Candidates may dress in party or pageant wear. Tiny Miss will be b chosen by selecting a special flower from a bouquet of flowers. There are two specialty awards presented. The Stage Presence Award is presented to the candidate who is best prepared to introduce herself on stage. There will also be a Tiny Miss Photogenic Award. Princesses will receive a trophy, tiara and gift bag. Tiny Miss will receive a trophy, tiara, portrait package, embroidered sash and gift bag. There is a $20.00 application fee.
Little Miss is open to young ladies ages 7 to 9. Candidates may dress in party or pageant wear. Little Miss candidates will participate in personal introduction and personal interview. Princesses receive a trophy, tiara and gift bag. Little Miss will receive a trophy, tiara, portrait package, embroidered sash and gift bag. The will be Little Miss Photogenic and Little Miss Congeniality awards presented. There is a $25.00 application fee.
Junior Miss is open to young ladies ages 10 to 12. Candidates will participate in personal introduction, personal interview and final question. Competition attire will include West Virginia Wear (Blue, White and Gold) and Pageant Wear. There will be a Jr. Miss Photogenic Award presented. Jr. Court Members will receive a trophy, crown pin, floral bouquet and gift bag. Jr. Miss 2008 will receive her tiara, embroidered sash, trophy, floral bouquet, crown pin and gift bag. There is a $35.00 application fee.
Teen Miss is open to young ladies ages 13 to 15. Candidates will participate in personal introduction, personal interview, final question and will need to submit a 250 to 500 word essay on “West Virginia Let It Shine.” It should inspire it’s readers to conserve, preserve and restore our state’s natural beauty. Competition attire will include WV Wear and pageant wear. Teen Miss Court Members receive trophies, floral bouquets, rhinestone crown pin and gift bags. Teen Miss River Fest receives her crown, embroidered sash, portrait package, floral bouquet, rhinestone crown pin and gift bag. There is a $50.00 application fee.
The Miss LWF River Fest Scholarship Program is open to young ladies who have turned 16 by January 1, 2009 and have not turned 22 before January 1,2009, must be single, never married, never pregnant and of good moral character. She will need to submit a 500 to 1000 word essay on “This Queen‘s Dream For West Virginia‘s Environmental Future“, participate in personal introduction, essay interview and final question. Competition attire will be a festival t - shirt to be worn with denim shorts, skirt or jeans as well as pageant wear . There will be Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality awards presented. Court members receive festival t-shirt, plaque, floral bouquet, crown pin and gift bag. Miss LWF 2008 receives a $1000.00 scholarship, crown, embroidered sash, crown pin, floral bouquet, festival t -shirt, portrait package and gift bag. Miss LWF 2008 will represent us at the WV Association of Fairs and Festivals Queen of Queen’s Competition, January 2009, in Charleston.. We will sponsor the queen’s lodging and her registration. There is a $75.00 application fee.
