Crikey, I have only just seen this thread, really sorry Melvyn. I can only echo what you say. All of the staff while I was there (2 years) were outstanding. Very professional, very caring. I never saw one act of abuse or cruelty during my stay and was appalled upon learning of the abuse that occured when the school became Riverside some years later.
Werrington as a school can hold its' head up high, the training of the boys, their welfare and support were exemplary. Mr Skermer the head was one of the kindest people I ever met and all his staff were similar.
