Hi all, hope i,m not too late with this, just found site. After a failed start to a life of crime,TWOC,ended up there approx 1964 to 1966.After initial settling in found it to be an interesting experience, archaeology with prof,Maurice Beresford, army cadet camps various trips out and home leave, soon got into the routine. As a 16 year old I started with the usual rebellion, but soon realised it was best to toe the line as your release date depended on the amount of points you earned and the staff were ok,Staff i remember were,Eccles, head master,Sutcliff,Huntley,Hall,Callow,Franks, the major who drove us every where while drunk, and the Blaydon couple who ran the kitchen.I was born in the north east but was living at Mansfield Notts at the time I entered there and later moved back to the north east aged 21 years. BTW,Bill Callow was in charge of Martin house and I think the others were Bray,Wilkinson and Theaker houses.Good luck to all who sailed in her.Like you say, unpleasant but character forming.
