Subject: ST EDWARDS - ROMSEY - HANTS

Hi
My experience at St Edwards was pretty miserable really, although I made one really good named called Peter Waddams, who came from Teesdale Street Bethnal Green, East London (Long since knocked down and rebuilt) I would love to find out what happened to my mate Pete (Wally) because after I left in 1969 Pete did a bunk and was never seen again, amazingly after being home for a couple of months I went to Bethnal Green to try and find my old Wacker and to my surprise he opened the door of 21 Teesdale Street and we went down to the Wimpey bat together for a drink. I never saw Pete again after that but somehow managed to get in touch with David Dattner a Jewish man who was our House Master, a great guy and the only one who really cared for the boys (Except Matron!!!) Dave had become the Principle of a children's home in Hornchurch Essex. I went to visit him and he told me that after I left the Approved school Peter ran away and was never found and David was greatly surprised that I had met Pete so soon after being released from St Edwards. Maybe someone knew Peter Waddams, he had 15 Brothers and Sisters and had lost his Mum in 1968 and has some information about him, it would be nice to know he survived, especially after all that we went through together.

Cheers guys
Dan Carlton
