Only in pageantry are you penalized by your peers for competing more than once. Does it affect my life is a former competes and wins? No. Does it ruin my day? No. Could I possibly learn something by someone who could win a state title more than once? Yes. Does bashing her on a public message board make the poster above feel better about herself? Being Mrs. Something America once is a great thing, sorry, but I agree that being it twice, for this particular system, turns into something less. Miss America, one and done. As a contestant who is NOT a former, I have no problem competing against any one of them, should they elect to come back for another shot at their state title. Trust me, if anyone is complaining about it, it's because they lack self confidence and have low self-esteem. I love how y'all say it's because it's such a prestigious title and it would ruin it if a former comes back and wins again!!! It's desperate& seriously a completly pathetic attempt to be a state title holder twice for the SAME state in the Mrs. A system Competing against them isn't the issue. Not a lot of states have serious competition and some states have NEVER had a top 10 competitor. I think it just reduces the actual title to all those other pageants where they crown 18 winner and then re-crown the exta same girls the next year for life-time acheivement. As a former, I wouldn't have a problem recompeting. "Fear" would be left at the door if I would even consider it, especially vying for another shot at being Mrs. America. I am one of those, though that is dedicated to volunteering and service and would utilize the title like I did before to further those causes I support. Because of this, it would seem strange, especially to come back with the same title again, since the common, everyday person is not going to get it. I am not trying to be mean here, but I fail to see the prestige in Mrs. America. Can someone please explain this to me because it has been many, many years since Mrs. America was a first class pageant. I totally get what your saying. BUT, I think it's the general public who actually think it's prestigious. The general public doesn't know about the gazillions of pageants that are out there. Most of them know about 4... Miss America... Miss USA.... Miss Universe... and Mrs. America. I know those are the only ones my non-pageant friends know about. So when you tell them you are Mrs. "State" America they are happy for you. They affiliate it with the others where you can only compete once. That's just my take on it. Thank you poster because I would hate to think that anyone labels a pageant as prestigious just because you are only allowed to compete at their nationals one time. Those days are coming to a close for the Mrs. America system, too. Sorry, but you could never sell that "prestigious" line to most pageant women, we are not blind or stupid.
