Subject: I understand your point but I was one of those that didn't volunteer heavily until I started competing. I have since stopped but the volunteering hasn't. I actually do more. For me pageantry out a fire in me that I've kept going. It's not so black and white.

In reply to: Really sad....you don't need a crown to make a difference!! 's message, "What the poster is basically saying is that you shouldn't wait to compete in a pageant to get out there and make a difference by volunteering to help others. It is nauseating when you won't do this UNLESS you are competing in a pageant." on 05/03/15 Sun

When you've been around the circuit as many years as I have, I cannot tell you the number of ladies who all of a sudden have a "platform" that they work hard from the minute they sign up until the minute they lose. That is what is sad. You manage to find time to help others while you are prepping to compete but you can't do that without having a title...really? Yes, it's pathetic and it's wrong because it merely tells me that this person was volunteering for all of the wrong reasons and she was not doing it with a pure heart....it is very self serving and very telling about the person.
