When reading the coursebook, I found myself nodding when it highlighted the importance of carrying out activities that cultivate uncompetitiveness. I truly support this and always encourage children to celebrate their team effort because I constantly experience the positive effect it has when advancing children’s learning.
For example, during a recent game of Bingo, it gave me sheer satisfaction to see the children having such an enjoyable time during this simple, renowned yet effective activity. The children were ecstatic during this game and were all eager to get their cards full. They were not competitive with each other and even helped each other by telling me who had got ‘Bingo’! It didn’t bother them who would be the first because I had told the children that we needed to make sure that we won as a team, and that everyone would get a chance to shout ‘Bingo’.
