Here's a short list of fun little awards to hand out for the past season, since I have a few minutes to kill and about half a month to still relax before starting this up again:

The Award for best overall record:

Jason, and thank god, because Juan being the runner-up to this award is bad enough as it is.

Thanks For Trying Award:

Cropley, he claims he got screwed, but then again, he got screwed the season before too. Set a goal for middle of the pack this year maybe?

From 1st To Last Award:

This award goes to a player picked in the 1st round the season before who fell the lowest in the draft the next year, which goes to, Robert Lang! Picked 7th overall in 2005, he was promised to be the difference by Juan Ramos that season and ended up being the biggest bust. Robert Lang was not picked at all this year in the draft.

Rookie of the Year Award:

Evgeni Malkin (Fleming) who was probably the only standout rookie picked in the pool this year after Crosby and Ovechkin last season.

Worst Drop Award:

Cropley for his shitty drop that cost him any chance of doing anything this season. Dropped Martin St. Louis for Kyle Wellwood. Wellwood got Cropley 46 points, while St. Louis got Juan points every game once he was picked up.

You Suck Get Off My Team, Wait, On Second Thought I Want You Back Award:

Cam Ward (Fleming). Booted off his team within the first week of the season, Ward was welcomed back on the team with open arms a month later, making Pool history being the first player dropped, than re-picked later in a season.

Most Sportsmanlike Award:

Rick, who never (and was probably the only person) to not drop a nasty comment while posting on this board

Are You Here? Award:

Kevin, who you wouldn't know was in the pool besides the fact that he finished in 3rd this year. To his credit, he did make a drop this year, a whole 1 more drop than the previous season. So he wasn't 100% quiet.

2 Minutes For Roughing, 2 Minutes For Instigating, a 5 Minute Major For Fighting, a 10 Minute Misconduct and A Game Misconduct for being an Ass Award:

Juan P. Ramos, who causes the most controversy and hatred on this board. No one else in this pool is hated more than this person, as EVERYONE wishes to see him finish dead last.

Most Improved Drafted Player Award (based on draft number, not points)

Jaromir Jagr, who was picked 84th overall (last) in 2005, picked 12th overall this season.

Most Improved Award:

Jason, who went from 503 (last in 2005/06) to 708 (first in 2006/07) and was the only player to crack the 700 mark this season, compared to 3 from the previous year.

Most Improved Draft Picks:

Derek, who had the 2nd pick both years. His team in 05/06 wasn't that bad (St. Louis, Kiprusoff, Crosby, Lidstrom) but then he picked Timono Ruutu and Keith Tkachuk to ruin any chance he had. Drops saved him that year. Derek's team looked very good on paper this year, too bad injuries hurt Erik Cole, Vokoun and a shitty drop to Kaberle the game before he scored a hat-trick really threw his chances.
