My thoughts exactly... -- anyasbuttmonkey, Friday, May 30, 12:25:42pm [1] (cpc1-pool4-0-0-cust460.sotn.cable.ntl.com/80.7.61.205)
They could've wanked the Sawyer one at a stretch, but no way it could've *really* been Desmond. I mean, I'm still hella confused how it's Locke, but at least the reasoning behind nobody going to the funeral holds up :)

Here's my current Locke theory... -- sparkle, Friday, May 30, 12:44:05pm [1] (71-14-184-217.dhcp.stls.mo.charter.com/71.14.184.217)
He learned to get off the island the way that Ben did (remember the passports, etc) and is going to each O6 to tell them to come back to the island. Now the suicide thing, I'm not sure about. Alternatively, because the O6 caused a major problem on the island, he was purged from the island, lost the use of his legs again and lost hope.

Actually for a few seconds I did fear it was Desmond...somehow the way Jack and Desmond left each others, and what Desmond said about being fine as long as he's with Penny, it seemed to foreshadow something bad.
Also Sawyer makes sense. After all he took one of the names used by Locke's father as his fake patronymic, and killed him in lieu of Locke. On some metaphorical level Locke and Swayer are the same person.
Those alternative endings might not be only a way to face spoiler leaks, they could be clues.

I'm not convinced, sorry pet...! -- anyasbuttmonkey, Sunday, June 01, 02:51:25pm [1] (cpc1-pool4-0-0-cust460.sotn.cable.ntl.com/80.7.61.205)
I can see Desmond using a fake name to navigate the real world, but why would Kate and Sayid feel such animosity towards him? Kate's especially was based on Locke's actions over the years, not just over one conversation she had with him posing as "Jeremy Bentham". And how would Desmond know what happened on the Island after they left, unless he went back - which makes no sense at all, given that Ben says the Island won't let any of them go back unless they all go together.
Sawyer is a little more reasonable, but it lacks the "WOW" factor of Locke, the one person who really never wanted to leave the Island, ending up dead in LA. And again, I doubt that Kate could conjure up such loathing for Sawyer - a man she sorta-maybe loves - based on one conversation a month ago.
I still personally think that Sawyer and Desmond are intentional fakes, but obviously we each have our own reasons for thinking what we do :) And that's why I love Lost and BSG - nothing is ever clear-cut, seven people can watch the same scene and can come away with seven completely different viewpoints :D

You may have a point or two... -- Chani *arguing for the sake of the argument*, Tuesday, June 03, 12:26:53pm [1] (m170.net81-65-194.noos.fr/81.65.194.170)
But 3 years have passed, a lot happened and I'm sure the writers could have come up with reasons for both Kate and Sayid to feel animosity towards Desmond or towards Sawyer.
Kate's especially was based on Locke's actions over the years, not just over one conversation she had with him posing as "Jeremy Bentham".
Over the years really? I don't think that Kate disliked Locke before he stabbed Naomi in the back.
Perhaps it's because I don't like Kate but I have no trouble imagining that she could change her mind about someone quite quickly especially if something big happened and looks like she went through a lot between flashforwards 1 (the post-trial time when Jack left her) and flashforwards 2(Bentham's funeral).
And how would Desmond know what happened on the Island after they left, unless he went back - which makes no sense at all, given that Ben says the Island won't let any of them go back unless they all go together.
You're assuming here firstly that what Jeremy Bentham told them was true, or rather that he knew what really happened on the island, and secondly that Ben stopped being the big liar he has always been...

Aargh... I freakin' love this show! -- anyasbuttmonkey, Tuesday, June 03, 07:18:29pm [1] (cpc1-pool4-0-0-cust460.sotn.cable.ntl.com/80.7.61.205)
And I love being able to have these kinds of discussions again - not since the days of Angel have I been so spoiled for quality tv!
Having thought about it, I realise that you're right - Kate is just petty and irritating enough to completely switch her opinion on someone based on some highly-irrational logic that probably has nothing to do with the actual person she's hating on but more to do with what she ate last Thursday ;) Can you tell I'm not exactly a Kate fan either?
