It could be a simple omission or maybe she was obviously Indian but nobody wanted to actually write it down. In New England, you need to do a good job of building your lineages and expanding them and then look for other researchers (cousins, perhaps) with stories of Indian blood and such. Sometimes the recording of it can be found in a history or a town record or church record. Also, it the surname is found, later, in Indian tribal rolls, that is a great help. build your lineages with documented proof for each persons and each generation. This is very important. Don't use the work of others unless you have the proofs they used. With the large families there and the "mirror" Indian families in existence, it's easy to get off on the wrong lines.
