This is the first time I have posted here and I will be writing one other post besides this one. My husband is Scott PUGMIRE. His mother is Eleanor EARL and she told us that her father, Raymond EARL/EARLE (I found both spellings) was Pennsylvania Dutch but also part Cherokee Indian. She could not give us much information as her childhood did not have many good memories. I have done some research using what she gave me to learn of the following:
1900 Census - Passaic, NJ
Peter EARL 54

Etta 13 (she told me of these twins)

Raymond 7 (Eleanor's father)
Jacob B 33 (don't know who this is)
Mary DEMOREST 66 (don't know who this is)
1910 Census - Passaic, NJ

Raymond 17 (Eleanor's father)
Jacob 43 (must be same as 1900 census Jacob)
Joseph COSTE 57 (don't know who this is)
1930 Census - Paterson City First Ward 52, Passaic County, New Jersey
Raymond EARLE-head-born NJ-age 36-father/mother born NJ
Edna-wife-born NJ-age 37-father/mother born NJ
Harold G.-son-born NJ-age 16 (I have a copy of his certificate of birth)
Eleanor-daughter-born NJ-age 11 (I have a copy of her certificate of birth and death)
Raymond Jr.-son-born NJ-age 9
Elaine-daughter-born NJ-age 7
Jean-daughter-born NJ-age 4
*None of the above are alive*
I found a Peter EARLE in the 1860 Census below called: Schedule 1.-Free Inhabitants in Fourth ward (can't read next word) Cole St. Jersey City in the County of Hudson State of New Jersey enumerated by me, on the 26th day of July 1860, George E. Buttes Ass't Marshal. Post Office Jersey City.

Peter-14-male-born NJ (fits the age and birthplace of above Peter, Raymond's father)
*They are all "white" according to this census.*
As you see an "e" was added to the end of Raymond's name above since earlier censuses. Eleanor spelled her name as EARL. Afer her death we saw her birth certificate with it spelled as EARLE.
Raymond was b. abt. 1894 and I was told d. in or around 1930s. He was found dead from drunkenness in a gutter and was an embarrassment to the family.
*He married Edna KASTNER, also found spelled as KASSNER in 1900 Census. Edna married a second time and d. Jan. 26,1955.
*Son Harold was b. in Newark, NJ on May 22, 1912 and d. Jan. 4, 1933.
*Eleanor was b. in Newark, NJ on Oct. 31, 1918 and d. in
Tujunga, CA on Dec. 9, 2001.
*Jean married and last name is SIDNEY. She had one daughter Jeannie.
*Elaine married and last name is BRUGGERMAN.
I believe that is it. I have only one picture of Raymond EARL and I have pictures of Eleanor, her siblings and one of a grandmother whom I beleive is Edna KASTNER's mother Louise.
