There seems little hope to get Karen to stop this smoking thing. She's 18 days short of her due date and less than a half a pack short of that number of cigarettes smoked daily.
Karen is quite helpful. She's always offering my daughter-in-law Judy a cigarette. Judy and my son Keith are only 20. She had learned to like cigarettes and had not told her mother. Some of you have probably been there before.
Figuring her mother only needs one big surprise in 2006, she's only told her she is pregnant. No problem. They are married. Not really no problem but the major details are taken care of.
Karen's smoking while pregnant started as sharing a few puffs on a few cigarettes a day. Then she told her husband who really does like her to smoke.
Karen's idea to smoke at all came after my sister-in-law Jane said she would smoke if she caught her daughter Shirley, who is 15, ever smoked. Shirley's smoking and husband Darren and sister-in-law Karen both remind her. Jane's 38 and Karen's 36.
