Gossiping with the ladies at the country club, conferring with Jessica while not smoking and seeing and overhearing Lisa friends who spent the night here last night (they are finally sleeping) helped catch me up on things.
Jess said Charlotte, her good friend next door, is still smoking 10-15 a day and trying to get Jessica to again join her. Neely, the big sister of Jessica's main guy here, says they need to go have a cigar. Neely only smokes cigars but not very often.
Walt, the guy, is a big supporter of Jessica not smoking. His friend Boyd said she should replace the nicotine by dipping. She says Rusty, the non-smoking athletic guy she was with over the weekend wants her to smoke although he doesn't. It's a familiar refrain.
Lunch at the country club was interesting. News that Jessica had given up cigarettes was out. Jean, who seems to be smoking to get back with her husband, said her 18-year-old daughter Carol stopped smoking because "she couldn't stand it" but that's not the case at all with Jessica.
Gloria said she was off of smoking until her daughter took it up. "Another smoker in the house makes you want to smoke, so that's what I did when Heather took it up. When Heather failed to advance in distance running in track, she turned to smoking and made it quite obvious.
Kelli, who followed her in track, also followed her in smoking cigarettes. But when Kelli added cigars, Heather and Gloria did not.
Bernadine, Kelli's mother, will have a cigar. She apparently had one with some of the girls Saturday. Bernadine said said she had no interest in getting the smoking habit and then bummed one of Gloria's.
Who knows?
Carly, the 12-year-old daughter of Jean and Craig, was joined by Lisa, sisters Louise and Glenda, and that little terror Laura, who has been smoking several months, is going outside to smoke. I didn't see a thing but sure heard that door slam.
