Please tell us about your smoking Tuesday. We get early release for the kids Thursday on the last day of school, the day the kids start their tournament. They play 2 games Thursday starting at 5. They will play another game Saturday. It's 3 hours and we will be spending the night at a motel. All will come back home Friday for work, etc. So will the team. A lot of us feel like this could be the last trip. We cannot believe we move our freshman son into this community and he plays on a team that had long championship runs in football and now baseball.
The fans are so rabid, they want it all.
We also can't believe the smoking. Long before girls could play sports, they had some great boys teams here. I was told the athletes usually didn't smoke but many senior girls at the high smoked.
The girl athletes are good in all the sports. Quite a few of the softball players are not in other sports. That will allow them to be smoking with less discomfort.
The main thing is that so many middle school and even younger kids (more girls than boys) are smoking.
My oldest son goes with a girl that was on the softball team which completed it's season. Her mother said my son asked her to smoke to bring the team luck.
This mother, who travelled to some football games with me and 2 other women, sometimes smokes. The other 2 have boys on the football and now baseball teams.
My youngest son hangs around with a girl who lives where a whole lot of kids gather to smoke. She is very sweet with us but seems to need her cigarettes at the tender young age of 12.
My middle son is in the 8th grade. Like my older son, he likes a girl a year ahead in school. For my oldest, Amber represents wheels. Ashley is just a pretty girl who does not smoke. The word is she tried one and did not like it.
I work with her mother who has tried more than one cigarette. She seems to enjoy smoking but has pulled back because she does not want to get the habit.
Amy and husband left Ashley with us on one baseball trip where they apparently had a good time plus. She said smoking was a part of it.
It looks like we will rent a room for us and our 2 boys. Linda has volunteered to let Ashley join Amber and her younger sisters in another room. That's 4. Linda and her husband will be in the other room. Linda's older son is a big hitter who started the season as main pitcher. He had control problems along the way and was not as effective but he had a great game on the mound Saturday. He's a senior and a very big hitter.
My youngest said Lacy has permission to go if she could find someone to stay with. With so many kids and a new baby, her parents will not be able to make the trip. I fear for anyone who would keep Lacy.
The playoff plans just came out yesterday so I'm not sure of all the plans. Lacy could ride with us but our other motel room will be all boys.
More details can come later.
At work, Shannon, the 29-year-old single woman who sent up some smoke signals at a bar to attract a man, found one at a game in the person of an uncle of a boy. She smoked at a party Saturday while being helped along with booze. There were a few party smokers added to the mix of regular smokers. She seemed very happy but not smoking at work yesterday. I hope to hear from all of you. Please tell us about your smoking Tuesday.
