Hi Bob and all!
We're back from the game where we split a doubleheader. We won the first gtame in 10 innings and lost the second on the 10-run rule. It was the first loss for our opponents in a long time.
They seem to think it was luck that we won and forced them to make another trip here.
The motel trip went well for us but a lot of the kids stayed up pretty much all night.
We took Lacy and Ashley in the car with our younger girls but they spent the night in a room with Marilyn's daughters. They also rode back with us and Ashley, a freshman in high school, seemed to have smoked with the kids enough to develop a tolerance for the cigarettes.
Marilyn, who works with me, took her girls and Lacy and her brother, Tom. Marilyn, who did not seem to police any smoking, also set rooms for their sons and older girlfriends.
Her oldest, Grover, the top graduate this year, was with Ellen on the softball team and George, a sophomore, was with Cassie, a sophomore, and the oldest sister of Tom and Lacy.
While I am not aware of any incidents, I don't think the older kids or the smoking was controlled very well.
Linda, husband and girls also had a room. Linda has a son on the baseball team and a daughter, Amber, a sophomore that my oldest son likes. My boys were completely mum on any girls smoking.
Like many places, graduation is tonight for us and summer vacation has begun.
Marc pitched the first game through 8 innings and then Big Marv, Amber's brother, relieved him and got the winning hit in the 10th.
Our catcher started the ill-fated second game. My son was among the relievers. Since the game appeared to be a loss, the coach let the catcher play all 9 positions on the field. I was sure glad they got him back to catcher for the final inning. My son went to pitching the last inning and was reasonably effective.
