I totally agree with you, Andrea. I am looking forward to the return of the station that showed others around the country how oldies radio should be done.

I have studied radio for 50 years. On June 3, by 4:30 PM when the Summer Wind by Frank Sinatra and the production piece with the word "Jack" was deleted were heard I figured out what was going on.

I called my best friend who owns a station in Virginia and told him that I believed CBS-FM was going Jack. As you know they announced it just before 5 PM and the worst format in New York radio history entered our lives.

I felt Jack would last maybe a year at the most. Obviously I was wrong about that.

Whatever happens regarding the sound of WCBS FM when and if it returns to the air this week as an oldies station, it will be wonderful to have a place where this music and hopefully the personalities associated with the history of this station will be heard again.
