Joe - I'm glad I'm not the only one to see what's really going on here. WCBS FM never left. Those were the call letters Jack used at the top of each hour. On Thursday, it will become WCBS FM Classic Hits - NOT OLDIES. They will never refer to themselves as the "Golden 101". In a typical hour, you may get a righteous Brothers song, the next hour - the Beach Boys, the next hour -the Beatles. Otherwise it will be similar to Jack - playing what we want, not what you want, plus a few tunes to keep the boomers happy, The only difference will be that instead of the insulting Howard Cogan, the voices will be our old friends Bob Shannon and Dan Taylor - two nice guys who have been out of work for over two years finally again getting a gig at a major NYC radio station in a town full of unemployed djs. The other dj is Bill Lee, who comes from a radically different backround than oldies. But this will not be an oldies station, so any future hires will be coming from other backrounds. The CBS suits are just sugarcoating another bitter pill for us to swallow.
