Although it ruined CBS-FM and it was the wrong thing to do, many oldies stations are using the approach to make oldies stations sound current to reach the young audience which advertisers want. The advertisers thinking that the older audience can not be reached and will not spend money is wrong as well. Cousin Brucie has said this many times. This is why CBS-FM started to eliminate pre 1964 music from the regular rotation and hired Jocks like Mickey Dolenz. As far as personality radio, that is gone from radio as well. You will never hear radio like WABC or like CBS-FM was in its prime again and that is unfortunate.
