There will never be another radio staion like WCBS-FM. After going through the 70s listening to the stations that came and went (99X, Disco 92, 97WYNY, etc.) I came home in 1983 to CBS-FM. It was like returning to my WMCA and WABC roots. I listened to CBS-FM in its earlier years, but not quite as frequently.

The radio in any car I owned from 1983 to 2003 never strayed far from 101.1. When you turned on 101.1, there was never any doubt about what you'd get; great music, great personalities, and maybe even a musical history lesson.

Then starting in 2001, it all began to unravel. I've been through the chronology before, no point going over it again. We know. We were all there as our station and our heritage was systematically destroyed. The neighborhood we grew up in was no more.

I've now moved from the old neighborhood (FM) to a new one (Sirius Satellite), but I'll never forget the place I came from. No matter what greener pastures we may move to, the old neighborhood lives within us all.
