The ONLY way to get through to them is to speak their language, which is M-O-N-E-Y. The sponsors will listen when one of two things happens:

- They find their sales going down
- They discover a way to increase revenue

Only then will something change.

As a group, we baby boomers are way too apathetic. We have HUGE financial clout and substantial disposable income. I'm sure that we could find a way to convince the sponsors that they aren't wasting their money on an oldies format.

We mustn't forget another reason why WCBS (and many oldies stations around the country) failed...the college whiz kids with MBA degrees slowly and systematically made CBS-FM a dysfuncional station.

CBS lost all identity over the last few years due to the foolish decisions made by a few individuals, such as repeatedly reducing the size of the playlist. Another notably bad decision was to hire many of the rock-and-roll DJs who were famous in the 60's and then have them play 70's and 80's adult contemporary hits.

Eliminating the specialty programming was a bad move as well. The Doo-Wop shop and Top 20 Countdown were very popular. When they were on the air, it seemed like anyplace I went I heard them playing...diners, deli's, toll booths, cabs, etc.
