I agree with you fully but unfortunately that won't help our cause in getting oldies back on the air. As others have said, the advertisers are dictating what type of formats are offered on the radio--not the public. Its kind of a very undemocratic system but unless we can change the advertisers way of thinking, we are dead in the water. I have been an advocate for many causes and its all about trying to change peoples way of thinking and it is not easy. I think therefore our best course is to bring together scientific evidence which shows what the people want out of radio and that will ultimately translate to spending dollars and brand loyalty. Sadly, simply serving the public interest is not a practice of radio today unless we educate the advertisers. Anyone have good ideas as to how we can do that?
