The problem is one and the same. It's all about attitude. The advertisers, it is said, are guilty of ignoring anyone over 45 because of the perception that we are all brain dead, unrespononsive, destitute, non-consumers. The concert promoters have done us the same injustice.

No paranoia here, just a dose of very angry reality.

I was laid off last June on my 45th birthday. I put in 23 years with the company. A new grad was hired the following week for half my salary. I unknowingly interviewed my replacement and recommended him for hire. The DJs at WCBS-FM met the same fate last year, however, they lost their jobs to a hard drive, not to a new grad. That's even a bigger insult.
