You are correct Larry! WCBS-FM absolutely had the most loyal audience in New York. Joe McCoy knew his market and he went right at it. Until he was hamstrung by Infinity, when he had control over what was on the air, everything he did was a success.

As you might know, I am passively exposed to JACK-FM by the misguided soul who controls the radio at the East Brunswick Transportation Center. Today I heard the biggest train wreck of all! When I arrived this morning to wait for my bus, JACK-FM was playing "New York, New York" by Frank Sinatra! Ol' Blue Eyes must've been turning over in his grave! They followed it with a very loud guitar riff! To add further insult to injury, they ran a spot in which you heard Dion singing "Runaround Sue". "If you miss oldies, the old CBS-FM lives on at WCBS-FM HD2", the promo said. Who owns an HD radio? Has anybody ever seen one at Best Buy or Circuit City? When the winter Arbitrons come out and JACK-FM is once again dead last, one can only wonder what spin CBS Radio will put on it.
