Frequent repitition is the enemy. Smaller groups of oldies (decades) leaves them with fewer songs (that fall into the Oldies category) to put into rotation on each channel, so the repitition can drive you crazy If you listen for long peruiods every day.

Also an artist that strqaddles a "decade deviding year" will have some songs played on one channel and the others played on the other channel. Dion is such an artist... you have to go to Gold (50's) to hear "I Wonder Why", and switch to (Ch 6) 60's or you'll never hear "Runaround Sue".

A real oldies channel can run from about 1958 to 1978 and have a fantastic catalogue of songs to play, that won't make you channel hop. Leaving the '50s channel and the 70s channels in tact will still let you choose your decade of music special interest adequately, of course with more frequent repitition due to the smaller catalogue. Repitition is tiresome.
