Subject: Song Title and Artist Of An old Oldie?

In hopes that the spirit of Oldies stays within the context of this board.....

Follow-the-dots premise:

Long ago one night, rock and roll punk Steve Green is watching the Ed Sullivan show, waiting for more Elvismania and Beatlemania to show up. Instead, on comes Sergio Franchi and a duet gal (Jean Simmons, maybe?), who do an operatic duet that winds up dissolving my rock and roll spine -- right through one side and out the other. Wow! I'm not supposed to like this, I think at the time.

And just a few nights ago we rented and watched 'Showboat'. Among other hummable songs that linger was a borderline-operatic duet tune that again went right through me -- 'Make Believe'.

I get the idea that the song which Franchi and Whomever did on Ed Sullivan that night might've been the 'Make Believe'. Does any other streetcorner greaser or greastress on line here remember the song sung that night on Sullivan? SOARING American nostagia music it was, sung by two people not from the USA.....

If not: Hey -- no sweat.
