Subject: Earlier DH Books

I had a yen to reread some of the earlier Dark-Hunter books, so I pulled out Kyrian and Amanda's story. I'd forgotten how funny the two of them are in their dialogue with each other. LOL Kyrian's a riot -- even when he and Amanda are handcuffed together in the Lamborghini while Desiderius and his minions chase after them with numerous cars.

I think the humor makes his pain and suffering that much more gut-wrenching.

[> Yeah,he is pretty funny,I remember the comment about how he hates the Romans, but their descendants make a hell of a fine automobile. That was good.I like when they get all funny when they're in a fight-like Zarek's line about "Not much, some invincible a$$hole is trying to kill me." It DOES make it more gut-wrneching,b/c I think it makes us like him that much more,so we feel it more intensely when the sad parts come. -- Boadicea, 11:32:21 01/07/06 Sat [1]

[> [> I loved the "Mr. yummy leather-guy" comment, and when they are getting ready to kiss outside the car when Desiderious shows up, and Kyrian says, "Here I am, trying to kiss my girl, and you have to interrupt us. What, were you raised in a barn?" He has always been my most favorite DH, his humor in tense situations is so sexy! -- Aimee, 12:10:44 01/07/06 Sat [1]

[> I have been doing some re-reading as well. Your right, Kyrian and Amanda just stand out. I really liked Wulf and Cassandra's story. It's one I find myself re-reading every now and then. The secondary charaters really enrich the story as well. I just crack up when I read about Wulf's squire Eric The Overprotected. The whole time he is trying to "break free" but when Stryker comes around he runs and gets his football helmet and stuffs the pillow down his pants. The dialogue is just priceless. -- ~Sarah R.~, 09:15:38 01/12/06 Thu [1]

[> I do enjoy not only getting to know these characters but seeing them throughout the series. The moment when Eric runs and puts the football helmet on is priceless. Just talking about that scene makes me want to re-read that book. I know a lot of people don't talk about Wulf's story but it's one of my faves. Very different then the others. -- Leiha, 16:45:33 01/12/06 Thu [1]

[> [> I love Wulf's story-it was the first DH book I read, the first SK book for me! Plus,I remember that I started posting at RBL shortly after reading that. The minute I read the part where he first walks in to the Inferno, and Cassandra sees him for the first time-I was hooked! -- Boadicea, 22:45:16 01/12/06 Thu [1]

[> Night Pleasures is my most reread DH book. It was my definite favorite, but now it is a toss up between it and Seize the Night. I love Kyrian and Valerius. Amanda was okay, but I am a Tabitha girl. Both books had it all- action, snappy dialogue, and hot love scenes! Both are the kind of books that inspire me to glom. -- heatherl, 18:14:08 01/16/06 Mon [1]
