Subject: Baby guppy problem

I just got some baby feeder guppies several days ago. I knew to expect some loses but last night I lost 5.
On some of them it looked as if they had lost their color and turned white. I know they turn whitish when they are dead but this is before they die.
Is this ick overnight?
I have been suctioning out the uneaten food from the bottom but I do miss some on occasion and have found some that looks white in color and kind of like moldy. Could that be a fungus that they caught?
I put some Paragon (I think that is the name of it) antibacterial, antifungal medicine in the tank this morning. I took out the carbon filter because I know that the carbon can remove the medicine from the water.
Does anyone else know what I can do or has had this problem and solved it?
