Subject: A query re: iMac/Safari users

Hope someone can help with this. As you know I'm somewhat technically challenged (understatement!), however I can't seem to figure out a seemingly simple straightforward problem I'm have with the size of my internet screen on Safari. To be honest its been like this since I got my mac a while ago but I'm only now trying to sort it out, clicking on the green plus button doesn't give me a full size screen only about two thirds which isn't the end of the world but a bit frustrating, is this the norm or am I missing something obvious? I've reduced the Dock down to a small size and put it on the left hand side of the screen but that hasn't made any difference, not that I thought it would really but it was all I could think of, do I need to make any changes in System Preferences or something?

help!

...drag the bottom right corner of the Safari box to fit your screen. That's how I did it, anyway!

[> There is no "maximise" on Mac -- DZR, 17:08:36 11/17/09 Tue [1] (212.198.136.138)

The red button closes the window. The yellow button minimises the window to the dock. The green button attempts to "zoom" the window to an optimal size given the window contents. The Mac has always been designed as a genuine windowing environment. I have always been rather baffled by the fact that Windows users tend to maximise the window they are working in to fill the whole screen. That seems to miss the whole point of having a document-centric windowing environment, where you can see many open documents at once.

As Kashy says, you can manually resize any window to whatever size you want, including filling almost the whole screen, by dragging the bottom right corner of the window. In Safari this can be a little easier to miss if you haven't selected View -> Show Status Bar.
