Subject: Being in a Hollywood movie is really tough *sigh*

Me and Ian went to see Russell Brand live stand up last night at the o2 centre. He was great, very funny, almost weird vibe of some sexual cult with all the women shouting out their love/lust for him.

But what was also cool was that they also filmed some scenes for Forgetting Sarah Marshall 2 (aka Get Him to The Greek) in which RB is starring as the wasted Brit rocker. Filmed two scenes of him performing songs, so we will be on your screens very soon as part of the ecstatic audience.

What was also pretty cool wasthat before that happened Jason Segal (main guy from Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and Jack Black came out to perfom the vampire song from FSm, which was also cool.

Hollywood is tough though, but I look forward to my royalties.

And Russell Brand is one of the funniest people alive, and weirdly one of the most uplifting and inclusive comedians also.

Maybe not quite as funny as a lot of other people seem to. He was good in Forgetting Sarah Marshall (I heart Kristen Bell).

But. I *cannot* see what it is about him that seems to drive women (and men too?) into paroxysms of lust. Cannot see it at all. Mystified.

i feel like he'd walk up to me...tell me how some random part of me is sexy as hellz. tell me a bunch of dirty crap he'd like to do and i'd just lose all rational thought and say "OK".

But I do find him very funny. There's a level of self-deprecation and honesty which makes what he does likeable. Without that I think he'd come across pretty badly. He is divisive though - a lot of people couldn't understand why we'd go see him.

The gig was strange though in the sheer level of hysteria at times, even he seemed a bit bored by all the screaming when he was trying to tell a joke.
