In your iPhone web browser you may want to take a look at

www.tudorwatch.com

and marvel. (I did that the iPhone version of that site.)

I use the Facebook app every day. There is a very nicely designed free e-book application called Classics -- it isn't better than a real book but it is nice to know that you have a little library of a dozen or so classic novels in your pocket. I use the Shazam application quite often. Solebon is a very well designed collection of solitaire games (I love Solitaire games).

I actually find that there are so many apps on the AppStore these days that I find it all a bit overwhelming, so do tell me about any cool ones you discover.

Welcome to the elite crowd of people whose phones don't suck. As far as I know that's just you and me here. I agree that now you have one it isn't really clear what you still need Ian for.
