Subject: Morning all.
Soooo....
I have a trial at the job next Tuesday. If that goes well, I've got it!
The company is a media monitoring agency, and I'd be working in the film press department. That basically means that our clients (the biggest being 20th Century Fox and Universal!) give us a list of films that they have coming out and want monitoring. Then we check newspapers from all over the world, as well as TV broadcasts, and report every mention of the film (as well as electronically sending them all the newspaper clippings etc.) so that they're aware of everything thats being said about the film. So I'll be looking at European, Korean, Japanese, Mexican, Australian etc. newspapers and morning TV shows. Woop!
It's only a basic job, but it seems like a really good way into media work. The job is open because two people from the department have just been promoted, and there's apparently a lot of scope for progression through the company because it's only 35 people. The team I'd be in is only 6 people.
Oh, and the office is awesome. As well as being really nicely decorated etc., they have a big roof terrace as well as a sort of courtyard garden in the middle of the building with picnic benches and table football! Two guys were playing table football during my interview, and the interviewer said "They're not on their lunch break, they're just bored." Hee hee. It's apparently the kind of place where if there's nothing to do, people can just chill out. Most of the staff are pretty young, it seems.
And I can wear whatever I like to work! No dress code whatsoever. He said if it's hot, wear shorts.
All in all, awesome. Really hope I get the job.

Can't really, it's a weeknight! -- Kashmanik, 11:00:33 08/07/08 Thu [1] (81.99.124.136)
Richard, delicate flower that he be, can't really afford to come out celebrating properly on a weeknight without running the risk of having a nasty hangover at work! Although now that you say it, we may have a few pints somewhere... :-)
Tomorrow's Friday, after all!

and you can always get a yummy takeaway on the way home!
(I just realised, you'll be in the money won't you? lend us a fiver?)

Hey! -- Kashmanik, 11:08:01 08/07/08 Thu [1] (81.99.124.136)
If I start giving away fivers willy-nilly, how will I be able to afford the gold-plated live swans and diamond-encrusted truffles I so desperately need in my life.
A xylophone made entirely of dodo bones won't pay for itself, y'know!
