(He actually had the grace to look disconcerted for a moment as she yelled at him and her words went straight through him like a knife, making him ache inside in ways he hadn't thought possible.. so this was what it felt like to have a broken heart. Just knowing that he had left her at the alter was nothing compared to little Shay yelling it at him as tears pricked her eyes.. and that made him realize just how much worse off Haylie would be. He suddenly felt rage building up inside him, at himself and at life.. becaue of all the things he should have told Haylie so that she would have understood what had happened today and so that she would be there right now for him to hold.) Where is she, damnit? (He repeated, his voice lower and pain etching the words, his brows furrowing as he tried to hold it together.)
