If you actually sat down and did the sums you would see that a player could theortically have 202 ships built by turn 18 using Peter's new formula. Add to that 1 ship per turn bought at a Trading Planet from about turn 4 or 5 (depending on when you get that SA). Add to that the occasional Rebel captured. Don't forget you can also be gifted more than 1 ship per turn.

I think 144 as the top ships to date is not unreasonable (last game it was 365 ships by this stage).
