i can remember my kid fighting in that smelly pissy ball pit at Burger King,( we all have been there, dont lie now)if i was tired from work or that time of the month maybe i didnt aleays react the way i should have when she was trying to bean some kid with a ball or steal their happy toy away.i learned the hard way that another mom did not appreciate me not disciplining my terrorist child and had a few small dust ups about it. i had many times in rest room or park when i cried and was very frustrated because my 3 year old would not act like an adult and sit quiete and read the new york times, for Gods sake! i always wondered why some of the moms of multiple kids would laugh at me or just smile when i was soooo mortified at what my kid did. i finally dawned on me that they had experience and realized that a simple im sorry was more than enough usually to cover her crime. yes, i did swat her butt, take her home, leave Mc d's etc.etc. but it took time to stop bejng embarassed about doing that. let the punishment fit the crime a slap for a slap, a shove for a shove, and a sit dont before i sit you down work fine. the moral of this story? people feel better when they see you explain why its wrong to hit another person, your kid learns and YOU feel better. DONT be embarassed we have all gone through it, (im an old granny age now) do what you have to do,what is right, and any home filled with love is a great home, we should all live in one.
