Gents - as 1st Sgt of my company under Bill Treadway, the last thing I want to see is someone wearing a thin pair of repro cotton socks to this event. Those socks may be authentic, but believe me they are not the best choice for marching, unless you possess a pair of tough period feet. Cotton socks become wet with sweat and can turn into cheese graters if you cannot dry them out on the march.

A good pair of closely woven period wool socks are normally better over any distance. Your feet can breathe and the socks air out quickly. Bringing two pairs (or 3) is a good idea. Terre Lawson makes these socks, as do several other good makers. I recommend you take her up on her offer if you are wool sockless.
