This one has no "right" answer. Don Smith and Cody Mobley would be good fellows to hear from on this.

My opinion would be that a civilian sack would give you great utility, at this event and others, but that a penitentiary or Houston jacket wouldn't be terrible either. Federal clothing would have had some wear to it and though present, wouldn't be excessively dominant. Federal gear however would be more prevalent. Some post-Mansfield/Pleasant Hill accounts tell of whole commands drawing captured US accoutrements and weapons.

My two cents.
