Agree with Sean and Pat that a good fitting pair of boots is just fine. The concern is the organizers don't want folks running out to buy a pair of army issue boots at this late date in order to meet what used to be the preferred footwear in the guidelines.

If you look now there is no preferred. If folks want to wear arty driver boots, mounted trousers and frocks that is up to them, but the organizers don't want to make it mandatory, or even preferred.
