All,

Excellent stuff here.

I myself think it would be easier and less of a headache to ship the piece ahead of time. I bought a rifle from James River Armory and it came in a wood rifle crate. I am planning to repay the trips made by folks, particularly the hordes coming from the west coast, and support one of their events. I plan to pack my piece in the crate along with everything but my uniform and ship it ahead of time. MUCH less expensive than buying a locking gun case and significantly less of a headache in worrying about it showing up at your destination or getting jacked with on the airlines.

As far as rounds- either ship them with the piece (if allowed) or make arrangements with Dusty Lind or any others who are in the ammo business. I suspect OX Johnson is filled up on orders for ammo but it's early enough that you should be able to get something arranged no problem.

Good posts!

Fred
