Hi Pat, May be you work for media and seeing how HK media make use of photos to "create " stories, meanings and even cultural code for their own purpose (revenue ! may be! :P) Frankly, questions always exsist if photographers capture things or people without respect. But I think in the view of Roland Barthes, it is a question on how the images be seen and interpreted by people ( including authors and viewers) and how these created meanings become the common codes in our communication. I think it will be fine if people take photos with respet~ It is a way to express our view and feeling like words do.So,enjoy to snap~ hehe~ Photos are images like the paintings in the past. Do it with heart and it will has its own influence towards the viewers. We cannot control how others interprete our own works either! Do you agree? :P
