Yes, the first serial indeed set the tone, and who can forget that haunting wandering theme which opened each chapter. In Mars, we were treated to much of Waxman's score from Bride of Frankenstein. But for me, the best music, robust, melodic, action based, especially during aerial battles or Flash Gordon fight music if you will, came from the last serial, Universe..1940, with its Les Preludes plus dramatic pieces from Waxman and others, and that hauntingly beautiful section from the later, shorter release of the White Hell of Pitz Palu in the USA. Overall, I'll cast my vote for FGCTU as my favorite in the music department.

Rick or anyone out there .... I have been searching for copies of the old Flash Gordon Music... The Franz Liszt les preludes was a great help but is there any copies of the waxman sections.... what was the name of the piece?

fav music was the Clay Men when they would apear in the caves... but I don't know who wrote it or the name of the music....
